Stephen A Smith & Jalen Rose - Mitchell is ROY

Mitchell is just a selfish chucker. He has another
bad shooting night, 10 from 24. Slightly better than 9 from 28 from the previously game though. He is another Trey Burke who just shoots even more.

No, his 1st quarter is his best. Im not sure where you are getting that 6 points in the final 7 minutes stat from but these are his splits on NBA.com. He gets the most points, rebounds and assists in the 1st quarter. 4.6 points (also his best shooting quarter), 2.3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds.

The opposite is true of Mitchell. His best quarter is the 4th. He gets 6.6 points (on his best shooting of the game 47.1%), 1.0 rebound and 0.8 assists.

Its not really arguable which quarter is each of their best.

Edit:
Oh, I see you are talking about the one game. Sure he started off helping and then the game got tight and he disappeared. Watch the final few minutes. He had nothing to do with his team having a huge comeback to steal that game away. I was talking about the final 2 minutes and then talked about his season stats and how their seasons are going.

But still his 4th in this game was not his best and he tried to ruin the comeback by turning the ball over more than once.

you obviously did not watch the game and don't know what you are talking about.
Simmons’ reverse alley-oop slam gave the 76ers their first lead in the fourth quarter, with 5:15 to play, and he followed that up with another strong jam inside. He got the job done on both ends, with the 76ers surviving after Dwyane Wade’s three at the buzzer was off the mark.

I think DM deserves the award but so does Simmons. The real problem I have is Simmons is not in the same class as DM. Donovan does need to get out of this shooting slump or it may cause him to lose the award.

I don't think the talk about DM takes away from the team playing winning basketball and I am sure that DM would be the first to say that the Jazz are winning because of the team effort and chemistry. The main reason why the Jazz are winning is they are healthy and the guys are finally meshing in Q's system.

I certainly think the Jazz can make some noise if they get the right match ups. I still think GS is the team to beat but I don't think they are just going to roll through the playoffs with out some competition. They are more beatable this year than previous years.

One thing with Donovan is that even though he's looked a bit out of sync at times recently, he still finishes with solid numbers and he keeps making winning plays down the stretch.

Lmao. Dumbass jazzfanz take.

Apart from the aussies in here there would be 5% that actually watch Simmons play regularly. The rest of you just regurgitate nonsense you heard elsewhere.

Too much is given for Simmons rebounds which leads to these triple doubles people think are so impressive and cool. Just like Westbrook last year they are mostly artificial.

Simmons gets less than 1 offensive rebounds and less than 1 defensive rebound a game that is contested. 78% of his rebounds have 0 defenders around him.

In the last 20 games Mitchell is getting 1.2 contested rebounds a game to Simmons 1.3. If you adjust that for Pace Mitchell is out rebounding Simmons in contested situations as of late.

This just proves you dont watch Simmons.

He lets his BIGS clean up the boards so they get their numbers. He blocks out then moves to the corner for the outlet and begins the break.

You ***** make me sick with your homer takes. Talk about an ignorant and uneducated fan base.

Apologize to the dozen NBA fans in here who always post measured and educated takes. Appreciate your work.

There's going to be homers on a JAZZ fan site..... There's no need to call people uneducated because you think you're a stat genius in the NBA.

When did I mention stats?

If you want to have an opinion on anything if life it helps to actually WATCH or research. Otherwise yes, its just uneducated drivel.

Many of these idiots actually believe mitchell is the favourite for the ROY award now and it is his award to lose, its so funny and entertaining reading their delusional comments.

I do think Simmons is probably the more complete player but it's still fun to entertain the idea that Donovan could win it

I like that the Jazz are getting national recognition for the player's egos sake, but listening to 90% of national tv analyst talk about the Jazz is irritating as ****.

Couldnt agree more. I was pumped to hear the Jazz and DM as major talking points on my favorite podcasts this week.
Spoiler alert: So disappointing! Just terrible takes all round. Its obvious none of them spend time watching the Jazz and just repeat popular opinion.

No mention of Royce
No mention of Quinn
No mention of DL
No mention of Favs
Poor takes on Hood trade
Poor takes on impact of Ingles

Very disappointing...

Both Simmons and DM are having rookie seasons that follow and exceed previous Hall of Fame players. I believe both will end up their.

Now on who is having a better season. Simmons is a stat stuffer and that's awesome but he's not the best number one option on his team. His 18ppg is not even close to as impressive as Mitchell's 20ppg (honestly lately you expect to see 24-25 from the Spider.) Mitchell is having to create his 20+ while the other team revolves their defense around him.

Also Utah's has a system in place that spreads stats like rebounds and assists around. Where Philli is primarily an Iso focused offense that compliments your highest usage players with increased stats (example Russ with the Thunder.)

Finally DM wins us games on offense an unheard of thing from a rookie. The true judge of how good a player is Wins. Both Been and Don are winners but DM is winning games.

ROY goes to DM.
