Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Things I've been saying for weeks:

1. The tank is a mirage.
2. It's quite possible the only move we make is buying out JJ.

Man if we stand pat Jazzfanz will melt. I can see a scenario where there isn’t anything good enough for Favs and Hood now and we end up just buying out JJ and going status quo.

I still think something gets done but I was overly optimistic we’d get this deal done.

Sad face.

From all accounts Favors is unlikely to re-sign with the Jazz. So if the trade deadline gets here and the FO feels like they are getting under bid for his services they should still take it. Something is better than nothing. As long as what is offered isn't prohibitive to the long term goal. Like only offers of a long term salary dump for Favors for example.

But Hood and Favors both have value.

With the NOLA/Chicago/Mirotic/Probably Monroe situations out of the way, I think the goal, at the very least, should be to trade Burks and JoeJohnson for the best possible asset we can get even if we have to take back a contract.

I think we will move either JJ or Favs for bad money and assets. When we let Millsap and Jefferson walk for "nothing" we had cap space to take on dead money and get stuff. BTW - we didn't trade them for nothing... just used that phrase for funsies.

This year if we let them walk we don't really have cap space between cap holds and such. So I could see us using that "space" now.

If the Hill deal falls through something like Shump and the cleveland first for Favs. At very least I would think we could do Favs for Frye and Osman (it's bad but we get something).

I still believe deals will happen but I'm pretty sad right now.

Another guy I like is Juan Hernangomez... I wonder how much it'd take to get Denver to move on.

How about this:

Jazz trade Rodney Hood, Ekpe Udoh, and Jonas Jerebko
Cleveland trades Channing Frye, Jae Crowder

In addition, the Jazz get the right to Swap Picks for the better of the Brooklyn/Jazz pick.

Jazz better do something. I am gonna be pissed if nothing happens. trade players who will leave after this season.

They aren't going to make a trade just to make one. If it doesn't help why do it.

Because holding on to Hood and Favors is a lose-lose situation. Either they walk for nothing or you give them too much money to keep them and kill your future flexibility. You take the best deals you get for them.

Then we might as well trade Hood and Favors and Jerebko for Noah. Hey!! At least we are getting something back, right!! Idiot

Read my post. I said you that you take the best offer available. I highly ****ing doubt that Joakim Noah is the best offer on the table. Stop being ridiculous.

And my point is the best offer may not be worth it. I was being sarcastic and using him to make my ****ing point

Trade Hood for Stanley Johnson and either a future 1st or a future pick swap of our choosing (with Detroit protections I'm sure of course).

The Jazz will never give away Favors for scraps. He helps us make the playoffs, which is the goal for the season. If we get a good deal, sure, but not for a second rounder,

Biggest trade news of the day for the Jazz: Gobert did a sleepy face emoji, and Favors followed up with a "no expression" emoji and then deleted it. This is according to my sources (twitter).
