Yeah, going to take my victory lap. View: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10125690-zach-lavine-trade-rumors-jazzs-interest-in-bulls-star-dismissed-by-nba-insiderSo I just gotta say, I'm super skeptical of this rumor. Might happen. I don't hate the trade if what's going out is John Collins and Jordan Clarkson.
But Philadelphia's front office already told their local sports reporters that they're not interested in LaVine, haven't been interested in LaVine. And meanwhile you have the local Chicago reporters saying that the trade market is deepening for LaVine and Utah and Philly are heavily involved.
If I were a GM wanting to drive up interest on a player who, due to his salary isn't developing much interest on the trade market, I'd leak that the team with the most draft assets in the league was interested too. Guess we'll see. I wouldn't be shocked either way, but I don't see Ainge giving up anything more than a second here along with the outgoing salary.
You get a first round pick....Why trade for Lavine at all?
Homie is due 130m over the next 3 years. I'm going to need a bit more than a first for that type of scratch. You get a first round pick....
Also if you do actually get Flagg next year you have that much more talent in the roster to light speed your way into competition
You are getting off the money off Clarkson and Collins as well.Homie is due 130m over the next 3 years. I'm going to need a bit more than a first for that type of scratch.
When has a team with Lavine on its roster been associated with winning?Looks like Chicago is willing to put a first rounder in now.
Honestly, I think about Clarkson/Collins for LaVine for that. Only reason I see to say no is if you are actually concerned about winning too much with LaaVine.
For a longer term deal. That better be a 1unp. If not, no dice. You are getting off the money off Clarkson and Collins as well.
When he has had a good team around himWhen has a team with Lavine on its roster been associated with winning?
How can that occur when he takes up 30% of the cap? When he has had a good team around him
Someone who is better versed in CBA specifics can give you an exact figure, but that % will go down every season due to the incoming tv moneyHow can that occur when he takes up 30% of the cap?
Cap will go up a maximum of 10% each year. They opted for smoothing.Someone who is better versed in CBA specifics can give you an exact figure, but that % will go down every season due to the incoming tv money
Also, just generally speaking, the Jazz's available salary to use in free agency is the least valuable asset they have.
He also gives you matching salary in a star trade...
So by Zach's final year what will his contract be in terms of the percentage of the cap?Cap will go up a maximum of 10% each year. They opted for smoothing.
This one’s for @fishonjazz … look it up and do the math. It won’t make it amazing but if the cap goes up 15m a year for 3 years it’s easier to manage. The cap environment is also changing a lot as teams don’t want to spend so you may have a harder time moving off money going forward. So by Zach's final year what will his contract be in terms of the percentage of the cap?
