What's new

Life - official thread

It's weird about what excites so you as you get older but I'm so excited about our white vinyl fence going in today. About 415 total linear feet.

So far this year, we redid both of our full baths upstairs, had an entire new French Drain system with two kickass sump pumps put in with long discharge lines out to behind our yard, and had a stamped concrete patio put in about a month ago. Now this. Once this is done, I want to grade the dirt in the very back a bit better, get new sprinkler lines for the back, get privacy trees put along the backyard perimeter in September or so, and then put some sod in just after. Maybe new garage doors with a kickass R-value too around then.

I'll post pics at some point.

The only semi-regret I have is not pushing the patio back another 1-2 feet. It's basically about 59' x 15' and 15' feels a little tight. Not very tight by any means but tight visually and a little logistically. Personally, I think 16.5-17' is perfect.

Cool man. Although I don't know why you always have to post double entendres.

This is the kind of stuff I get excited over too, but I'm old. ;)

At this point, anything that makes my life easier, simpler, more organized, etc... is exciting.

I would be super happy about a patio and fence!

Here is a couple ****ty photos of part of one room I remodeled this is a during and almost finished picture. I guess I could take a good after picture but that is too much work. Paid someone to redo all the electrical in my house and all of the plumbing then did the rest myself. The house is 108 years old. The lathe and plaster wall is the original lathe that I scraped off the plaster and left it bare with a light gray wash. Re framed the whole room since it wasnt properly insulated against the exterior brick, redid the floors, the vents, the light fixtures, re textured the ceiling, put in a load bearing beam to get rid of the two walls in the rooms that you can see the framing from.

Haha, nope. Just some of those copper wire lights that are trendy right now. They got thrown on for a party. I have left them up since you cant see them when they are off but probably will take them down soon.

Ill take finished pictures when the furniture is set up. I have most of it bought and set aside until I am all the way done. I have a friend flying out to build a table for the room in front of the wood wall and that should be the last piece. Except I guess the spiral stair case that I will be putting in next summer when I finish up converting the big attic space into a master bedroom.

The kitchen I redid is behind where I am taking that picture from. I have a picture of it somewhere ill post one day.

Wussup with the wheels?

Wussup with the wheels?

There are a couple empty dog dishes on the ground?

I just noticed I had my face bottle opener temporarily on the unfinished doorway. I love that thing. It has a magnet to catch the lids and it makes it look like the dudes beard.

Haven't been on Jazzfanz much-- after two parents in the hospital, my uncle passed away in a freak work accident one week later. Age 44, left 5 children behind. We've been there all week with the family, just wrapped up the funeral.

My thoughts are with you. That sounds very difficult.

So sorry to hear this Dala, my sincere condolences. I hope your parents are on their way to a full recovery from whatever put them in the hospital.

Wishing your family peace and comfort at this difficult time. Life can sure be difficult.
