Content providers (especially sports)drive up the cost of cable not the actual cable provider. With this you're still stuck paying comcast to be your ISP and you're getting a basic cable package through a different company. A basic cable package that apparently is going to be even shorter on content than the one you could get through comcast. Not that excited tbh.
I don't think Google is giving up on the ISP business. They may give up on fiber optic networks but they won't give up on being the gate keeper. It looks like they're working on wireless broadband from what I can tell.
Since we both agree that Google may have given up on the Fiber project, it is reasonable to say that Google is likely to offer the service in markets where it has Fiber.
As far as I'm concerned, the package is a lot cheaper than the one I get from Comcast. I care about VEW few channels, which must come bundled with an assload of channels that I have zero interest in. Youtube TV seems to have nearly all the channels that I want. Given that they give you 6 accounts with the service, it can cost as little as $6. So ya, super excited.
