Why? I'd say a 31 year old suffering from lingering injuries lowers his value.

Because it shows how important he is to the team. We are meh without him but great with him. Hell, even when we have him and he is suffering from a bad toe, like in the first series, we are much better with him. Him being hurt only gave Dante more minutes to show how ineffective he is. If he got hurt and Dante showed a lot of promise, then it would lower his value. Exum didnt do that though, making it more important that we retain Hill as Exum is still a huge risk to ever pan out to a starting PG.

He's still going to get paid, but nobody is giving him a 4 year max at this point. I don't think he lost anything by not signing, but his value is probably pretty close to what Utah offered him.

Brooklyn could easily give him a 4 year max.

In that case, he's gone. Right?

No idea. I would think there would be some kind of value he would be willing to pass on to go to a playoff team over Brooklyn, but IDK.

The first year of a max contract for him would almost be more money than he has made his entire NBA career so I could see how that could be super tempting.

At the deadline I thought the Jazz should go up to 20 million per year, or perhaps a tad more (like 22). Due to his missed games since then I'm reducing it to about 18 million, maybe 19.

I dont blame him if he chases the money considering his age and current contract. If I'm DL id be concerned about how Hill holds up during the latter half of his next contract.

No chance. That organization is trying to dig out of a deep hole. No way they throw that kind of money at a guy his age who had the injury issues he had this year. I'd be a lot more concerned about a team like SA offering similar money to what Utah is offering. Even then, I'd bet he'd rather stay with Utah than go back to a team that traded him and is in about the same position competitively.
