We could waive Joe Johnson and then send Thabo for Skal and Temple. They get off some more money that way. I like Temple... he's overpaid but not by much.

It says "loading trade," but never loads. I think he's making a symbolic gesture about what's going to happen this deadline.

We cant send them a player. The whole point is that they need to clear a roster spot for the Cavs trade. Unfortunately we are not a team that can swoop in in this situation it looks like.

If we did a one for two trade that opens up a roster spot... we have to waive JJ first to open up a roster spot too.

That true but I doubt that type of trade will happen soon enough. But the Jazz would also have to get under the salary cap which I dont think they can do as well without a pretty big trade. Unless the Jazz get involved in this trade directly in a 3 way trade. But I doubt that happens based on this trade.

It is much more likely that Kings just send a player for a 2nd round pick to 1 of the 3 teams under the salary cap with an extra roster spot.
 
Man I'm happy something happened today. Clear the air a little. So Favors to Cleveland is no longer in play. We wouldn't want JR or Tristan. Maybe Hood for Osman and the Cleveland 2018 pick has a chance. What a smart trade that would be for Cleveland....

Read the trade... we don't have to get under the salary cap... Thabo or JJ out.... Temple and Skal in. We waive either JJ or Thabo to make room on our roster.

I would think they would rather have the Temple deal off the books, but a second rounder may be more appealing.

I guess that could work that way. But I still think its too much to get done that quickly. I think we would have to buy out Thabo or JJ? They would have to agree to it as well correct?

Yes, this trade would work. The Kings immediately waive Thabo and JoeJohnson. Then they do the Cleveland trade. In the process, they pick up 2 2nd rounders and shed about $18 million for this summer when they can be the Kings of salary dump deals.

Not if you waive them. For JJ that would be his best case scenario. We would want to tell him beforehand obvi... but he’d get his money and pick his new team.

I would be alright with that deal if the Jazz dont think they are doing anything else with JJ or Thabo.

I would clear it with both players and make sure they are okay. We have to treat players we signed as free agents pretty well here in Utah. JJ was a solid pickup for the Jazz and well respected around the league. He would have to be on board.
 
Still have to clear a roster spot and can only use it for a player on a one year deal I believe.
