Jazz Bear FIRED

You're wrong tho.

'Separately from the statement by the organization’s management, journalists at MPR News published a lengthy article on Tuesday, based on interviews with more than 60 people who worked with Keillor in some capacity, that outlined what it was allegedly like for women to work for him. The article describes “a years long pattern of behavior that left several women who worked for Keillor feeling mistreated, sexualized or belittled.'

That's from the article that was shared with you.
I didn't read the article but I will. I wonder how many of the 60 made accusations or said they noticed something. Well, it will be interesting. In other words, you believe he lied in his account.

"Look at all these women getting assaulted, this world sure is getting dangerous...for men."

I think metoo has been a really powerful eye opening movement... I had no idea how common this stuff was cuz I’m naive and have never been in an environment where the stuff was happening. Anything like this will get used for unintended purposes but I’ve got 3 daughters so hopefully scumbags are so scared of this stuff that they stay the hell away from anything that could or can be interpreted as unwanted sexual advances. It may come with some bad but the other side is so much worse.

I read Keillor's account that he wrote himself. Either he is a liar or that woman is ... I prefer to believe him because his reputation was impeccable and no other cast member has said this about him after 40 years doing the show. In fact, he is a rather introverted person and not given to open shows of physical contact, like even hugging, for instance. Read his account. The MeToo thing is like McCarthyism making lots of accusations, many of them unproven or uncorroborated. This is not to say that real pervs like Weinstein or Cosby aren't guilty. But when people like the Hawaii Senator on the Judiciary Committee equates the way a man looks at a woman to sexual harassment, then I know this movement has really gone off the deep end.

Thanks for the name calling, that too is associated with fascism.
I'm moving the discussion to General because this isn't Jazz-related. I read the article and you can see my take there.

You can't fire someone for being too old

Exactly... the word wouldn’t have been used. In a job that is physically demanding you could be let go because you can no longer perform... but that would have been addressed in the offseason.

If we never find out I’m going to imagine he argued with his boss about using silly string on opposing team fans... and he stormed off and was like “if they won’t let me do silly string I’m out this place eff off” and that was that.

I was thinking the same thing -- he inappropriately touched some young lady's fanny but probably didn't even realize it, like Garrison Keillor when he rubbed some woman's back to comfort her when she was in distress. Who knows, but the feminists are getting their revenge on men for keeping them at home tending to the kids and other domestic duties for so long.

Are there no women in your life? Estimates are that, 1 in 4 women will be assaulted at some point in their life. I did an in depth research into military sexual trauma (mst) and over 95% of the people assaulted do NOT report it.

The problem is not how many men are falsely accused. The dangerous narrative that 45 was pushing, for admittedly political purposes, that #metoo is a threat to innocent men will just convince more women to remain silent. Don't be part of the problem.

Let's stop the muzzling of the victims of sexual assault by erecting barriers to them telling their story. Stigma, and ridicule can be effective barriers, let's take them down for our girls' sakes.

Right, because if Keillor did it he would just confess. Not all accusers are "getting their revenge on men". Here are some pieces of the MPR letter regarding the investigation:

1) "In a letter to MPR dated October 22, 2017, the woman’s attorney described dozens of sexually inappropriate incidents directed at her client over a period of years. In fact, the woman’s attorney presented us with a 12-page letter detailing many of the alleged incidents, including excerpts of emails and written messages, requests for sexual contact and explicit descriptions of sexual communications and touching."
2) "MPR provided the independent investigator with all requested access to MPR documents, emails, text messages and other materials to assist in the search for facts and the investigator informed the special Trustee committee of the facts she uncovered. The facts, not mere allegations, were the basis for our decision."
3) "Before the decision to end our relationship was made, Garrison and his attorneys were asked multiple times for access to Garrison’s computer, emails and text messages to assist in the investigation. To date, all requests to review Garrison’s emails and texts related to this matter have been refused by Garrison or his attorneys."
4) "MPR has received two formal complaints, both making allegations about Garrison’s behavior in the workplace. One of the individuals is a woman who claims Garrison’s behavior was directed at her, and the other individual claims to know about some of the alleged behavior."

So the woman provided evidence (including electronic and written) from her records and has a second witness, MPR was able to confirm with thier own records, and Garrison agreed to leave rather than provide access to his email (or computer, or texts). What other proof do you want? Your personal bias is getting in the way of reason.

And let's not convict people before the accusations are proven.

Read my rebuttal in the appropriate thread.

My momma taught me right so I never really ever thought about brazenly making suggestions or other far worse things... the metoo opened my eyes to how common this garbage is. I honestly can't think of real reasons a woman would falsely accuse someone of something like this either. If you were a public figure or there was some revenge factor I guess, but those will be the extremely rare circumstances.

I just hope political morons don't use metoo to fit their agendas and give ammo to those that would neuter it's purpose.

Uh yeah. It's not exactly an uncommon occurence.

I didn't realize how old the Bear was. I can't imagine doing half the things he did, even if I was half his age.

Even if he did something to get fired, doesn't take away from how awesome he has been. Definitely deserving of his HOF berth!

Rift with the staff, huh?
After the poor performance against Sacramento, Quin must have called for a 3 hr practice to prepare for the Warriors...no exceptions. Bear must have tried to use his non-player, long-time vet status to be excused and was shown the door.

Either that, or Donovan is now stepping into the role.

Will Bear have his number retired?

Does anyone remember a mascot prior to Bear?

This is a day that will live in infamy. I'm calling for a bearcott of the Jazz until they give us the truth.

What went down with the Mavs?
They developed a culture of sexual harassment over the course of many years. No woman was safe working within that hell hole!!
Good point. That makes it sound more like he told off his boss.
It could be anything. Not like the org was going to give details. In fact the worse it is probably means the less details they give. Probably easier to just say issues with staff
are we really going to hold a bear to the same standard that we hold a human being?
Not at all. If bear touches my wife, he’s getting shot between the eyes!!

"Look at all these women getting assaulted, this world sure is getting dangerous...for men."
