What's new

Dante has been out forever because he ded

I don't think the Jazz can beat Houston at full strength as currently constructed either, but agree they could beat the rest
Houston will be hard for sure. It depends on Chris Paul and capella how they're playing. Houston rely on harden so much U need Dante to guard him

OKC will be hard for the jazz as well in the playoffs cause of Paul George. He's incredible
All George has done is fade in the playoffs. I'll take that into account until proven otherwise.

Being able to play Dante without worry about him turning the ball over every 2nd possession would be huge but I'm not sure even that's enough. They're very good at putting Rudy in compromising positions defensively which negates the Jazz' biggest strength and I don't think Mitchell is good enough yet to carry the Jazz offensively against Harden and even 70-80% CP3. Probably ends in 6 games.

I think the jazz can beat anyone besides the warriors in playoffs. Having Dante is key. As I've said before U need athletes to beat the best teams.
So the difference between the Jazz being a crappy tram who can’t beat any good teams, and the Jazz being able to beat anyone but the Warriors, is Dante Exum.

Got it.

The Jazz would be a 60 win team if they got to play in the East, we all know that.

It's interesting to note, Jazz are only 13-9 against East teams so far this season. From the comments on this board youd assume it was 22-0...

Couldn't find the stats from last season

The Jazz caught a lot of losses early due to the brutal schedule, wouldn't be as bad if they were based on the East Coast.

OKC was a tough opponent last playoffs though. It would be a good series.

I think OKC is significantly better than last year. Aside from Mitchell, their Melo was our best player. We relied on them playing Melo throughout the series to hog the ball, chuck up some crap, and play really terrible defense. Just getting rid of him and giving Grant, an unselfish role player more burn improves their roster and makes them a more formidable matchup. OKC has upgraded with Schroder and Morris (if he ever becomes healthy). I haven't watched too much of them lately, but I imagine they could playing RW and DS in the backcourt at times and give teams fits. Right?

If implemented against us, RW and DS offers them an incredibly explosive backcourt that RR and DMC would have to respect defensively while giving them the best chance to shut DM down. I don't know how often Donovan has gone to this, but they could remove Adams and potentially go small (Nellie style) with Grant and Morris and force Gobert out to the perimeter, giving driving lanes to their perimeter players. That would force us to either leave Gobert out there trying to cover perimeter players or reserve him only for when Adams is in. Some teams have gone small against us and have done so with great success since Gobert is not yet a dominant offensive player. I can't remember which team did it recently (maybe Portland) but I remember they went small and it forced Gobert away from the basket while we were unable to take advantage offensively. This must be the next step in Gobert's evolution.

I think OKC would be a very tough series 6-7 game series with our margin for error being much less than theirs. George and Westbrook are two superstars with a host of good role players. Adams, Grant, and Schroder are all really good players. If Grant was on our roster he potentially could be that stretch 4 we need and if Schroder was on our roster he'd probably start.

Their FO has done a good job in keeping them competitive when it looked like their window of opportunity had slammed shut. Honestly, OKC is one of those teams that I can see making a run this year if their superstars really step up and one of their role players get hot. My money is on Grant. He could have a very Trevor Ariza like playoff run this year and could become that 3rd scorer they need. If that happens, they're as good as anyone besides GS.

The west is so good. The top 10 WC teams would all be in the ECF if faced against EC teams. How ironic would it be if Lebron's #10 Lakers miss the playoffs? One could argue that they'd be EC champs if they played there. Even teams like #9 Sacramento are nightmare matchups due to their length and talent.

Personally, I'd love for us to play Denver or Portland. Whether that's gaining a few spots to get into that 4/5 sweet spot or dropping a spot to #7 and face Denver in the first round. I think those are favorable matchups. Especially Portland, probably the easiest matchup of them all. I just don't see their backcourt able to carry them to victory in a best of seven series against us. DL and his SG buddy might get hot for a game or two nailing 3s all over. But I think they'll get worn down as they always do and fade pretty quickly.

Jazz should focus on avoiding GS and OKC at all costs imo. Dump Portland and beat down Lil Brother Denver (again). Taking Denver out in one of Sloan's last years was one of the most satisfying playoffs I've ever witnesses. I don't know why. Anyone else have a complex against Denver? I don't want to face an angry Westbrook, George, and OKC crowd out for revenge even though sending Westbrook to early vacation might be the most satisfying of all potential first round matchups.

That's load of crap. Raptors, Bucks, Celtics and Sixers are better than any team in the west but GSW. Indiana would be in that category too had they not lost Oladipo. Top 5 teams in the East are real. Rest though is crap.

The Sixers are legit. The rest of the teams I don't think would fare well against the top 8 WC teams. Top 10 was probably going a bit too far. I think the WC playoff teams could all beat the top EC teams with the exception of the Sixers.

The Celtics are the biggest jokes in the NBA imo. So talented but so overrated.
