Training has continued and I’m going to cut back a little as she gets closer to her spring soccer season. Maybe only do a workout a week. Possibly two.
In any case, the improvement is cool. She’ll do 100 meter reps on Friday, weather permitting. Gonna have her do it on the curb which is obviously slower than a straightaway. Hoping she can break 20 seconds. I think sub 19.5 is possible but we’ll see. Either way, huge improvement. She ran 51 seconds for 200 meters this past August, five months ago. Right now, she’d be damn close to breaking 41. And I’m thinking by this August as an older 7 year old, she might be able to crack 37.
The AAU record for an 8 year old is 28.96 FA. Which is flying. I coached really solid females in high school about 20 years ago and they were running high 24’s/low 25’s.
In any case, I might just stop entirely during soccer season and up until about mid-August for about four months since, ya know, she’s a God damn kid. See how she reacts.
And oh yeah, the kid needs to grow. She’s small. If she sprouts up (I’m 6’2” and the wife is 5’7”), that’ll help.
