Trade deadline discussion

JC and Conley may be 60 cents on the dollar. I think any player/picks package will be maybe 65 cents on the dollar. I think we need to start getting our name in these Simmons rumors. Not because we’ll get him, but because our defense has been so bad that I think the team needs to hear that we’re trying to make trades to bring in a huge douche.
I think JC, Conley and a 1st should interest Philly. Probably not get it done, but should be of interest.

From what I can tell, most fans of other teams view JC as a negative asset because of his bad defense and inconsistent offense. I don’t think Conley has as much value as you’d think.

Anyone that thinks the Jazz even come close to having a package that Philly would want for Simmons is severely mistaken. Whether they want another all-star level player or a package of assets, Philly has better options for both. It absolutely is not happening. Even if it did, he’s a Klutch player, he’d start trying to force his way out next year, he’s not going to settle for Utah. His agent won’t let him.

Well, yeah, but we would have two more ROY trophies in our in our franchise showcase. Amiright?

Utah can compete if they want win now pieces. A package built around Bojan and Conley would be huge for them. Both fit perfectly with Embiid.

Doc Rivers would love Conley and Morey would love Conley's shooting. Same with Bojan, who is a much better fit next to Embiid than Tobias Harris is. I'd suggest they flip Harris for some role player/defensive pieces personally if they got Conley/Bojan.

I’d be curious about Ibaka. I’d be more curious if he were bought out. Not sure how much you can rely on his health. He does fit in the TPE in the unlikely event that you’re able to do a second multi-team move where we send out a whole bunch of salary that we don’t take back.
Buyout would be great but then you are competing with every glamour market and it’s be easy for him to jump on board with the Lakers, Nets, or maybe the Bucks (not a glamour market but a contender).

TPE is nice but as you stated we’d need to drop other salaries.

You make some good points. I highly doubt we even really try for the guy.

As for Clarkson, I bet there is a market out there. Maybe not every team, but somebody out there would love his influence off the bench.

I think we could really remake the mental component of our team if we were able to bring in both Morris and Smart. Morris would fit in perfect with the offense. Smart not so much. But I think those two guys would make our defense a lot more palatable, especially if a lot of JCs minutes are going to someone like House.

I think there would be a market for him for sure, just not as large as we'd hope. It's unfortunate, because he's probably the piece it would hurt the least to lose.

There’s gotta be some picks moving somewhere…

Richardson and Nesmith = Smart’s salary since you can’t trade him yet.

If you were to get Morris or Smart I think Royce has to be in the deal. He might be the sweetner with the expiring contracts that help make it worthwhile.

I think something could be built around Conley for Smart. Boston might want more a floor general out there than Shroeder. I think Smart has more value due to age and contract, but Boston might be pretty desperate.

I'd do it. My all-in moves are getting both those guys. Keep DM, Rudy, Bojan, and Mike, and use whatever combo of what's left to get those guys.

JC is a player the Clippers might want more than most teams. They have a huge tax bill, but if they are taking a gap deal JC for Batum+Ibaka makes some sense for them.

We are not getting Morris.

The other thing is that if you trade ****, you can only expect to get **** back. So while I understand why people are throwing JC, Ingles, and Royce’s name out there more…you’re or going to get much for a player whose value is tanking.

It hurts more to trade Bogey/Conley, but that is the only way we’re getting a decent player back. If you’re not willing to move one of those guys, you have to be ok settling with what we have because JC/Ingles in particular are not going to have buyers and yield a ton. Last summer? Maybe, but definitely not now.

I know there’s no way Oklahoma City would trade him, but I seriously covet Josh Giddey. No way to get him, but I think he has a higher ceiling than Mitchell.
