Trade deadline discussion

The trick with trading Bogey is that if you’re the one trading him it’s usually to pick up assets and set up for the future meaning you are worse in the now, the team trading for him is trying to bolster the team in talent, so they aren’t giving you back anything that will help in the now. Jazz aren’t sellers. I just don’t see that happening unless they go on some crazy cold streak between now and the deadline
yeah, no one is gonna give us a better player in exchange for Bogey straight up. Unless we include him in a big package for guys like Jaylen Brown or Ben Simmons. It's possible but it's highly unlikely.

Why would we trade for Simmons again? Like the dude can just say, “Utah sucks” and refuse to play just like he’s done to Philly all year long, right? So why would we trade any assets for that? Seems like giving away anyone for a player who refuses to play would be a dumb idea.

It's how he is exploited in the playoffs that might get him traded. He does have liabilities on the defensive end

He was absolutely terrific in the playoffs last year so I have no idea what you mean by "exploited". Pretty much the whole rotation outside of Rudy has liabilities on the defensive end. Bogey is such a good shooter and such an efficient scorer that I just can't see the Jazz moving him.

I'd take PJ Washington over all these guys. Not a better player necessarily, but he's a buy low that we can certainly afford. To get Wood, Barnes or Collins, we have to overpay which may result in us going backwards.

Him from last night

Here here! PJ Washington is actually really good. I watch a lot of Charlotte games as my wife is from SC. He would be a great piece in the rotation.

What about...

Boston gets Bogey
Atlanta gets Clarkson and Richardson
Jazz get Collins and Smart

Collins seems done in Atlanta. They are worried about long term salary, but also want to try to make the playoffs this year. Clarkson and Richardson provide them quality depth for a run while not having bad contracts.

Boston gets to keep Schroder as well as make some big savings. They could use their exception to grab another player by the deadline.

Yeah by itself that's a terrible trade.
i want no part of Dennis S. I don't think he is a team guy. Guy has talent but it seems teams just let him go easily so there has to be some reason why? Going in the Draft, there were questions about his personality quirks. I also do not want to trade Bogey. He is under appreciated on this board. His defense is not as bad as people make it seem. Plus, He can carry a team with his shooting. He can make big shots at the end of games. I am up for trading JC/Ingles and one of our young guys to get another piece to help us compete for a championship. Losing Bogey is a lateral move because the players being discussed are arguably about the same as Bogey. Just different strengths and weaknesses. I think the Jazz should give Hughes a shot at minutes. Coming off the bench if JC is gone there will be shot opportunities.

A combo of Gobert and Collins is quite intriguing.
I feel that Bogey is more valuable than he gets credit for.
I like it, but I feel that Clarkson is the most expendable on the team. As the stats show, we have the #1 offense in the league, so losing an "inefficient" scorer wouldn't kill us.
We need some guys with toughness/grit like Booker/Crowder/etc. They aren't even that expensive; you often grab them deep in the 2nd round.

Bojan is definitely a better floor spacer, and we would take a step back going to Collins. However, I love what Collins would give us in three main areas:

Rebounding - much better than Bojan

Defense- better than Bojan

Small Ball center - gives us a completely different dimension for the playoffs. So much so that we could trade Whiteside or Dok if it pushes this trade over the top.

Saw an article written for Toronto talking about an ingles for Boucher trade. I do t watch much Toronto basketball so I haven’t seen much of this guy play. Anyone? Also I know that Cleveland mentioned Joe in a list amongst others they would be interested in.

Cavs lost Lauri to a high ankle sprain. Those are a bitch to get back from. They may be the best Ingles/Clarkson trade partner. Have two great second round picks and Rubios deal… a third team would need to be involved. OKC for Kenny Hustle… clips if they decide to retool… I think Cavs need another player since errybody hurt.

That big Rubio expiring paired with Cavs picks will be interesting to monitor as we approach the deadline.

Offensively in the playoffs, he is overrated defensively.

I live in Toronto, the raptors have given up on him. He is big, long body can finish.

it's actually his offense that I have issue with. Everyone knows his defensive limitation, but advance metrics showed that his offensive impact isn't as high as ones thought, and it's not nearly enough to make up for his lack of defense. Bogey does score a lot of points but he's not a big shot creator by any means and tend to disappear when he doesn't get his looks. He relies too much on open looks and could be a turnover machine when he drives or tries to post up the smaller defender.

Those 2 games against the Nuggets where he carried us offensively are what we need to see from him but he doesn't do it nearly often enough. I think he's a good tertiary scorer or third option on a contender, but not good enough to be your second leading scorer, like Middleton or Vanvleet.

To be honest defensive matchups and strategies will eat Bojan and Royce alive in the playoffs. Heck Royce sucks at O even in the regular season. I just wished he never second guessed himself. He can get his ... But he is reluctant

What's interesting is that the Jazz were bad on offense but good on defense when Rubio was on the team. Now it is the opposite. Ironically, Ricky would actually be a great fit on the current squad over Conley.
