Summer League

He played a handful of games in the GLeague last year and statistically he didn't suck. He put up Naz Mitrou-Long like numbers.

bolmaro is 21. the mitrou-long we're remembering was 25. huge difference. i liked what a saw from bolmaro overall - especially defensively. he showed some passing chops and was hard to stay in front of with the ball. reminded me a lot of giddey - though a poor man's version. couldn't shoot but did a lot of other things really well. and honestly, the shot doesn't seem to be broken - he's an 80%+ FT shooter so there is some hope.

I wonder how much practice, weight lifting, etc. players are doing before SL games that affects their shot, not to mention the back to back games.

It's definitely concerning when a second year player doesn't come in and dominate summer league, although it seems Butler has looked solid in everything except his shooting.

I should do a deep dive on small gym vs large gym too. For whatever reason I think guys shoot worse in that tiny gym. If feels so compressed like there is no space. it might just be because when I watch the games in the big gyms its usually OKC or other good teams.

He isn't getting the separation he gets normally either. Summer league is real rough and everybody is giving it 100% to get their next job. Shouldn't read too much into it since its a tiny sample. He got off to a slow start shooting last year in the regular season. Its troubling though.
 
Could be far fetched but I'm also wondering about the floor. He slipped and went down several times a game ago. Maybe it's affecting his game. For whatever reason he's struggling to create separation.
 
The Jazz lost by six to the Raptors today although the game wasn't that close. The Jazz never led and Butler and Bolmaro couldn't throw it in the ocean. Other than the kid that was the Big 10 defensive player of the year it was a pretty yucky showing by everyone. No one gets a juice box or trophy today.

Jared is making me so sad but I won’t give up until I see him in the regular season.

Shot just not falling, but playmaking has been pretty good. If Bruno could finish he would have had 10 assists. Saw some lucky kid get an Azubuike autograph.

Thought he looked good at the end getting into the paint making the right passes, guys effed up a few of his good reads in the paint.
 
This year team is so meh. I have hard time staying focus on games and struggle to remember guys outside of the starting 5. But maybe it's a good exercise before the tanking season.

Just remember that the only real NBA game our summer league guys will see is one they buy a ticket to.
 
Jared Butler has had one decent shooting game out of the 5 that he's played so far. That was the game against Atlanta where he finished 6/11 and 2/7 from 3pt.
