2023 NBA Draft “Hot Takes” Thread

This is very lukewarm, but I don't think this is an amazing draft class. It's fairly deep in the mid/late lotto and Wemby is obviously a generational talent, but I don't think it's going to be as amazing as it's being sold.

Maybe it's just because I haven't followed that draft as closely in recent years, but the amount of excuses for players this cycle (some are valid) seems extremely high.

I think this draft ends up way worse than people are hoping as far as top level/all star talent, but much better than average at rotation players/high level starters.

Ok. I’m starting to think the jazz should go all in on trading for the second or third pick to draft Scoot. And I’m starting to think they just might. We need a pg we have draft picks galore this year and in the future. This is a crazy move but one that is very doable and realistic. I guess it all boils down to how confident the jazz are Scoot will be an absolute star in the league. It’s a hot take but at the same time it’s not something that would leave our cupboards empty while still offering a deal the hornets can’t refuse.

Westbrook's body with CP3's vision

Dang, I was coming on here to say that the Jazz end up with Scoot Henderson.

Also, people are going to be denying that they ever loved the Thompson Twins by year 4.

What does Portland want that we have to offer. They want win now in the twilight years of Dame from what I understand. Only guy we have to fit that bill is Lauri

We ain't trading with Portland. . .

The post i was replying to seemed to be indicating we would. Maybe i read it wrong though. I do see at the end he mentioned the hornets.

Who are we trading with to get scoot? What are we giving up?

We will trade with Charlotte and it will be an offer they cannot refuse. Those guys need so much more than a Brandon Miller can give them. I can see the 9, 16, another pick, maybe Ochai and we take back Hayward. They need to get younger and build sensibly. They get a young wing and some guards, shed some salary, and put a first away for the future (they only have their own firsts going forward.) They don't need or want a lot of vets coming back like Portland does.

OOH, pointless prediction thread. I can put as little thought into it as I want.

Miller, Whitmore, AND Hendricks will bust.
Thompson twins good but not great with Ausar being the better player.
Anthony Black will be an all star during his career.
A player drafted in the teens will be third in Rookie of the Year (Wembanyama and Henderson will be 1-2).

I’m glad I made this thread. #3 is a helluva take.

I just don’t see it with Sensabaugh. Not my cup of tea. He’s one of the few guys being talked about in the first round that I hope the Jazz stay away from.

GG has the talent, but the head and maturity need to match it. I think it’s very possible that he can get there. Depends on who drafts him.

Reminder that John Collins has a $125M contract.

Porty gonna move dame… gonna draft scoot
