Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Hmm...I find this interesting. Both MIL and DAL will need a PG. I wonder if Key fits into this somehow. I could see Key going to DAL, and Sexton going to MIL instead of Klay or I can see Key going to MIL and keeping Sexton->DAL and Klay->MIL. Obviously if we add Key we add more compensation from somewhere.
Or we just take Dallas’ pick outright rather than trading up.

The gist is that Milwaukee doesn't want to add a first so they get Clarkson instead of Key or Sexton. Dallas needs an established veteran as they are in win now and will need someone to take the reigns for Ky until he is back and supplement after. Milwaukee opens up some additional salary flexibility and can chase Tyus Jones or someone like that with MLE/BAE. I just think Milwaukee has to keep the 2031 pick out of any deal that doesn't land them some big needle mover. Even if I think Sexton is that... I'm not sure NBA teams do.

Unless we traded for Jase or Fears I'd likely want to keep Key. Third year is where guards tend to figure it out or you can just figure this is the player they are. Either way he will help the tank or boost his value. If he isn't pulling time away from someone else I'd just continue the experiment.

Sucks that so many of the top picks do not seem to be good shooters. We need better shooters.

Uhh, it's the opposite.

Tre is potentially an elite shooter. Bailey it's a bit questionable, but I really believe he's going to be a high tier shooter (at least when you factor in size). Harper/Flagg are both really good off the catch.

We're playing a dangerous game with tank+Lauri this upcoming season. With Key, I don't think it's quite a win-win situation because keeping him could mean we lose our pick next year. Getting rid of Collins and Sexton will help the tank, but I'm not super interested in testing our luck. If you want to keep Lauri, have to pay for it in other ways. I think we could get fair value for Key, and if we're able to we should be open to it. I think there are teams like DAL who will both see him as a future prospect and also a cheap contract who can contribute right away.

I see it. I do think if you move Collins and Sexton and you pay Walker... then you can manage Lauri and Walker's games played since they have both been paid. If you get Flagg then I think you really can't play with fire at all. If you land Dylan/Ace/VJ I think they will help you lose a bit more... The West is just going to be once again full. May have 14 of 15 teams actually trying to win, so it will help our case.

If you could get fair value for him then I wouldn't be opposed... like if we send Key to Milwaukee and it lands us that 2031 first... then hells yeah.

Its just tough after watching how effective Collin has been and how ineffective Key is to think that some teams in win now mode would be really excited about Key. I think Nico is in absolute desperation mode so would likely want the more proven option.

We're playing a dangerous game with Markkanen, who doesn't appear to have much against yearly long vacations. I'd like to see him a little bit irked about his zero postseason experience.
We don't know a thing about his playoff basketball, but we know we probably can get a nice package for him.

IDK... he seems more adequate than good. Ace is a no passer, so probably unfair to put them both together.
ace can pass. his role was to score and his team was horrendous at shooting (one of the worst shooting teams in cfb), so his assist numbers are alarmingly low, but he can pass. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying he's an elite passer or that he has elite vision, but the base is there and he's adequate in that regard.

if one wants to cling to his production (i don't expect anybody to trust me or believe me when i say he can pass) as evidence that he can't pass that's fine. but he had essentially the exact assist numbers as durant at texas. and durant became a plus passer in the nba. point being, it's not as if passing ability can't swing the other way with a different role, different offensive scheme, more spacing, better coaching, better shooting teammates, general improvement with age and experience etc.

I just saw a blurb that the Lakers are looking to move on from Dalton Knecht which isn't surprising in that he was involved in the trade with the Hornets that got undone. His regular season stats weren't awful but he fell out of the playoff rotation. Could trader Dan have some interest?

I think he had zero potential assists in a game or two this year. The book on him is he isn't a good game processor. I think the passing is a big part of that. Every basketball player can pass... when I say he can pass I am saying he either isn't or is awful at it. A good pass here or there isn't proof he can pass it either. I think it is fair to label him as "can't pass" until he does it... regardless of what his role was last year.
