ace can pass. his role was to score and his team was horrendous at shooting (one of the worst shooting teams in cfb), so his assist numbers are alarmingly low, but he can pass. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying he's an elite passer or that he has elite vision, but the base is there and he's adequate in that regard.
if one wants to cling to his production (i don't expect anybody to trust me or believe me when i say he can pass) as evidence that he can't pass that's fine. but he had essentially the exact assist numbers as durant at texas. and durant became a plus passer in the nba. point being, it's not as if passing ability can't swing the other way with a different role, different offensive scheme, more spacing, better coaching, better shooting teammates, general improvement with age and experience etc.
