Collin Sexton traded to Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic

I don’t get this at all. If Sexton really had negative value, which really doesn’t make sense, then just keep him. Giving a pick to move him for another vet who is an absolute bum is so dumb,
The second round pick is five years away
Plenty of time to get it back

If this heralds some Kessler for Reaves trade then it becomes so much worse…

And it really doesn’t make sense whatsoever unless there are other moves planned…
It's makes 100% sense imo.

Sexton needed to be off the team to give the young guards more minutes/touches without having to **** with Sexton contract year.

Jazz needed a back up 5. Nurkic isn't good enough to drive winning, but he's an adult in the room and will help keep Walker tough.

Plus you gave Sexton to a team that challenged Utah in tanking. We made a tank competitor better.

Sexton had to be dealt. Just have to accept that Sexton doesn't have value, which the FO has been unable to do. Kudos to Austin for accepting reality and doing what had to be done
Don't include the pick at least. Sheesh.

I feel like AA could call up quite a few teams in the league and be like "we will give you a good young player and you give us a crappy old guy" and find some takers.
No need for the pick imo

Had to be done

Bad trade, but it looks like @Tremendous Upside was right

Thank you.

This trade makes perfect sense in the bigger context. If they were going to get rid of Sexton while getting at least something useful (in theory) back, this is what it takes to do it.

Fans around the league are outraged because they mainly remember Collin as a dynamic jitterbug Cavs guard scoring 20+ ppg. I can understand that... he's been out of the limelight for a while, and people generally don't know ball. What I don't understand is why Jazz fans are just as outraged. We've actually watched him play for several years.

Other teams have watched as well, and this is how much actual professionals and decision makers value Sexton.
