Golden State visits the Holy Jazz - An Official Game Thread

It wasn't just one player I saw, but an entire team. Ingles dominated that first qtr, burke bailed us out a few times, Gobert was a factor, favors jumper was Malone like, Booker was incredible, and Millsap (a d leaguer looked great).

That's Snyder's fault. For a team with zero playoff hopes they are playing their asses off. In an era of tank tank tank, what Snyder is doing with this team with a long history of half *** effort, is nothing short of COY worthy. I know he won't win it but the difference between this team and the team of the last few years is night and day despite having the same core.

Imo, the biggest surprise of the year has been the rookie coach completely changing this team around.

I'm just messin cuz I haven't seen you on the boards as much since you and I dueled on the Hayward extension.

Hayward was a beast but you are right it was an all around effort. Booker was phenomenal. I just don't get why we don't see that energy from him more. It's really fun when it happens.

And Gobert just did what Gobert does... Ruin peoples lives.

I didn`t watch the game, but if Al Jefferson had 15 points on 15 shots like Derrick had tonight, he would be pissed on by everyone in here.

Favs plays both ends of the floor and gets his points in the flow of the offense. Al had to have the offense revolve around him to get his 1 pps. And Als defensive woes are well chronicled. Al is second to last in RPM for centers this year... Please don't put Al and Favs in the same sentence.

When was the last time Big AL had 3 blocks and 2 assists? No one is going to argue that Derrick is a better offensive player than Jefferson or what we had in Boozer. But Favors plays both ends of the court. That's his value - and also that of Gordon Hayward. Much rather have a player who contributes on both ends of the court than a scorer like Anthony or Jefferson who are defensive sieves.

I have to seriously ask if you watched tonight's game too. Trey is almost always the reason we do have shot clock violations or close to. He stops the ****ing ball, man. On three seperate occasions tonight he dribbled in place with ~12 secs left on the clock....and then with great urgency, continued this same practice of "lots of dribbling" and then took a desperation shot. On all these occasions, the ball was moving fine before he came in.

I'm not making this up or exaggerating.

That's like saying "well in his defense he has a hard time getting jobs because of being a convicted criminal".

This is why Bodhi is the best poster on this board. Too many times, Trey was dribbling with no intent and then had to hurry up a shot. Dribbling with no intent to drive or create is one of the worst things a point guard can do.

Back off Warchild. Seriously.

Proabably a lot of times since Al had something like 2 assists and 1,6 blocks per game when he was playing here. Derrick his averaging a career high of a total of 3 assists and blocks per game.

Derrick Favors rocks, but that doesn`t mean that we should do everyting to make him look better than he is when he is going through a rough patch.

Three possible outcomes.
Most likely, They blow us out in the first half and we fight back respectably during the third and fourth quarters, but lose.
2. We play them tough for three quarters and they knock us out in the fourth.
3. They get ahead early and then play us even the rest of the way. We lose by 30.
4. Jazz show their potential and lead wire-to-wire (well, technically 2 ties in Q1). Warriors happy the Jazz don't have a chance of nabbing the 8th playoff spot.
4a. Cy depressed because Russell is slipping away.

Trey off the bench is the way to go. Way, way, way easier to hide him defensively. With some improvement he will be a solid bench piece.

Point taken: Jefferson was a better shotblocker than I remembered. He's averaging 0.8 assists this season. Favors is at 1.4 so not a huge difference. But the offense absolutely STOPPED when AJ got the ball. Hold the ball and make several ball fakes right and left for an up-and-under or throw it back out and demand the ball get thrown back to him to start all over. And a lot of times he would then turn into a double-team.

Jefferson is averaging 49% FG this season and gets to the line only 3x per game. Favors is at 54% and nearly 5 FT's/per.
Favors: 661 pts on 496 FG attempts = 1.33 pts per shot
Jefferson: 645 pts on 587 FG attempts = 1.09 pts per shot

"I've got goose downs!"
Fixed.

Also, I have been driving a limo for comic con and Sundance. I drive that Jaime lannister guy around last night. And Matt smith from doctor who. And a girl from doctor who. And some famous actor who looked like heath ledger, only not dead.

Yup. Noone in their right mind would want Big Al instead of Derrick. Even though he is going through a rough patch right now, Favors has been fantastic this year. I wonder if the personal day he took in Milwaukee (?) is still affecting his performance?

As I said I didn`t watch the game, but looking at the box score, did Enes really affect the game as positively as it looks? Even though he didn`t make many shots, he grabbed 10 rebounds and had a very positive +- in his limited minutes.

Credit to trey tonight. Seven assists. And he's not complaining about coming of the bench. I really like his attitude about the situation.

I hope so. Id like to see a big jump from him next year. He looks good on D, but I expected a little more out of him this year. I knew he was a project but I'd like to see a few wow plays every now and again.

His defense and quickness still wows me, but I get what you are saying.

What a great *** kicking. The Jazz just whipped the Warriors in every facet of the game tonight. It was great to watch.

And if you don't like Booker on this team, **** off. This guy is the missing link of passion/energy this team has desperately needed. Every game he's into it, and seems to give a damn out there.

He was still a big problem in the 4th quarter. At one point he shot a somewhat contested 20 footer with 20 seconds still on the shot clock and other times in the fourth where he bogged down the offense.
