I mean..guys..do we have our star?

Is Hayward a bonafide number one option?

The problem there is that Gobert was really good last year. The dumbass coach just didn't play him.

Actually, I see plenty of tools for Dante to make a big leap. He has great feel and timing out of the PnR; he has a quick first step; his three point shot is dependable enough that he can start his offense with it; he shows signs of elite defense; AND this coach is playing him. That's a lot o ****, mayne. Add 15 lbs this offseason and instill a bullishness to get to the rim and you've got the soup for a leap.

Yeah, my point was Gobert didn't really have to make a huge leap to get where he is. No doubt he has improved a ton, but it wasn't a miraculous or even unexpected improvement.

For Dante, I just hope guys have to guard him next year. Maybe get his per to 10 or close to it.

Dude, Rudy became a national phenomenon this year. The board has been stuffed full of homers for him who STILL get shocked by his improvement. I guess you're above that all? saw it as fate? c'mon braugh... get of teh high horse. Rudy was better than the number of minutes he played last year AND he improved remarkably.

Relax, big fella. I too am shocked by how good he is. I mentioned he has improved a ton. But the fact is, when he played last year in his limited minutes, he flat out produced as evidenced by his nearly identical per 36 numbers in terms of rebounding and blocked shots. But again, he has improved a ton as he has been able to keep up those numbers with increased minutes, and his offense made a sizeable leap.

But make no mistake, Rudy was really good and showed a lot of promise last year. Just unfortunate he played for a knucklehead coach.

maybe Corbin did a few things that were good for Rudy? Maybe Rudy's grit and hunger are somehow partial products of last year's experience?

I'm reacting to Corbin hatred. It's tired. Things are working out well for several players, and I think the experience with Corbin's system has been a net positive for them. I'm glad we have Q, but yeah.

Prove (and I mean prove) otherwise. The safer bet is always to assume that successful people take something useful out of experience. In other words, it's okay for me to say the burden of proof is on you, not me.

Lol. Rich coming from your bitchy ***. You said he "gonna" to be our number one option which is just ****ing stupid.

He already takes the most shots for amount he played. Obviously this goes over your head because you don't have the mental capabilities to look at facts or do simple math.

I get your point, but first option doesn't necessarily mean "player who shoots the most"

Imo "first option" means go to player, or the player that you want to get the ball to first to let him decide what to do with the offense.

Hayward is our first option

NAOS, you're probably right about Corbin aiding Rudy's development. I do think Rudy should have played more minutes last year, however.

For me, Hayward isn't a true first option in one sense: he isn't a volume shooter; you can see his energy and efficiency dip when he doesn't have help creating and TAKING shots. Having a guy like Paul Millsap or Boris Diaw would really help him -- creative guys who will take shots they're supposed to take, pass when they're supposed to pass, takeover when they're supposed to takeover. Also, I think a guard who can put pressure on a set, half-court defense (put them into a bit of a scramble before Gordon gets the ball) would really help him.

Anyway, I guess I'm saying that Gordo can be the #1 option in a highly curated setting..... but I suppose this applies to everyone except the truly transcendent players.... and maybe even to them on many nights.

FWIW

Omg you are a dumbass. Go watch volleyball or something. This whole basketball thing is over your head.

Dude, just so you know, that poster used to be called The Black Swordsman. If you remember correctly, then that tells you all you need to know.

Also, Jamezz is hotttnickkk.

Just close the door on that ****.

also note: Jingles helped Hayward a lot by sharing the distribution load. If Jingles were a knockdown 3pt shooter, he'd be the jam to Hay's peanut butter.

We are going to need more than 1 start, but we def have 1. If Favor has a great summer, he could breakout next year as a legit star Haywards level.

Exum oozes potential, but I fear we are a long way off. Gobert has to do a lot of work this summer on his body, but also oozes potential to be more than just a defensive stopper.

We will need 3 stars, and we have 1.

I think its safe to say Hayward is a first option at this point right?

He's getting there. He was blocked 6 times.. and that was without Davis around. If he can learn to lower that to 2-3, and average 24 a night, I'll be sold on his contract.

I really hope Exum makes a Gobert sized leap next season.

Gobert wasn't 19 years old last year. We might have to wait till year 3, most likely year 4

What would be ideal is if Hayward wasn't the first option to drive the ball. If we had a legit drive and kick threat to play with Hayward, he would even be MORE dangerous getting the ball on the second or third defensive rotation to cover him. Hopefully that guy is sitting on the bench with a shoulder injury. When Trey plays against lesser guards and is able to drive, the offense looks really, really good. Right now, our best finisher is also the guy that has to initiate the offense, and the mismatch is going to Ingles or Exum who can't or won't take advantage of it.

Meh, I won't complain the day we start winning consistently again but getting draft picks is always nice. Playing Govert big minutes now is already giving us wins. I honestly rather wait until next year until we aim for the playoffs. Maybe get another lottery pick.

Gobert, Hayward, Exum is the future though.

ehhhmmmmm....There is a guy named Derrick Favors, quietly putting up 22 PER, who somehow keeps being forgotten. Bizarre.
