Potential Trade Targets

If we give Lauri the max R+E (some have proposed alternatives), we’re going to likely lose KO and possibly Simone depending on how much he commands. Honestly, I’d rather just trade Clarkson instead. I’ll take the multiple seconds. Open up the playing time for TH and give us the ability to keep KO and Simone.

If not, we should just trade KO if we don’t have the means to retain him. The Jazz have got to be dialed in on their plans with Lauri.

I dont think Heat would give up Jovic in a price range that fits DA's taste.

I hope this is not how we are thinking. If we believe a player has the potential to elevate his game in an expanded role then back our judgement and be prepared to slightly overpay on current output for what could potentially be a bargain down the line. There is just as much risk if not more risk attached to holding on to some of these picks we have that could end up being late first rounders.

Fournier feels like a bargain player right now. He is a quality vet in the doghouse due to Thibs.

I think he can punch above his current expected ability. Its a buy at rock bottom price and sell on opportunity.

I don't think Fournier is an amazing talent, but he isn't done either. Feels like an Ainge move.

Also, Clarkson is having a down year by his standards but his contract is amazing. Very few teams will get back his value at that contract. For that reason if we trade him its on a high eval.

Sex is great. He is turning serious corners. His contract is reasonable for 3 more years. If we sell, its selling on a high eval.

Collins is rehabbing his value. Evn though we want him out, in 2 months we might be saying the opposite like we have with Sexton.

The jazz are rehabbing players values by winning. Hardy is his own worst enemy. If he wins his best assets get moved. If he doesn't win, they won't be moved and he can't win later. Ha ha. Sucks to be me right now - nacho.

Is Beauchamp gettable? I can see him improving on the Jazz into a solid player - even a top 100 player. Giannis is not patient enough for that and wants immediate impact players. Clarkson for Beauchamp + Filler, no picks?

Then of course I would still want Collins for Kuzma to happen another top 100.

I say forget the models and just load up on cheap top 100 players. If we got Beauchamp and Kuz, we would have 6 top 100 players. And I think Tay Henney will be another. Keynote is another possibility but I have my doubts. Let's just go with this approach - it's cheap and if a player improves beyond expectations then you are near the top on the Western conference with a ton of depth.

Warriors are going to spend $195 million in luxury tax as of now. Their team looks no bueno. I am trying to figure out how we leverage their desperation to get assets.

Would anyone be interested in Chris Paul for John Collins? That saves the Warriors $40 millionish if I am not mistaken.

Alternatively, THT, Olynyk, and Samanic for Paul works. Three expiring contracts for the Chris Paul's mistake. I think Paul would be an amazing role model for Keyonte.

Another option could be Kuminga for a TPE. That would save them even more.

All the talk indicates that they are looking to upgrade. Owner is frustrated for paying so much for a bad product, but he is less frustrated about paying and more frustrated about the product.

They are trying to retool around Steph, so if you want to take advantage of their desperation you have to trade away current upside for future upside. So something like Tech for Podz type of frame idea. But since they likely would prefer to use Podz as a piece to close a bigger deal (like Siakam, who they are looking at), we probably need to wait before we could throw that into the mix.

0 interest in dumping assets for CP3 unless they are giving us something else with it. There could be other trades with them though. Kuminga, Podz, or Moody are guys they might look to move for good vets. From us that is KO or Clarkson at least that we are willing to move that they would want. I dont really see us as a good trade partner with them. They are looking at a bigger win now move and we dont have that unless you are dumb enough to give them Lauri.

Looks like THT and KO are the Jazz two preferred tradees.

According to Windhorst Utah wants to sell it's expiring contracts. That could also include Dunn.

I think you are using the word asset a little too loosely. If we could trade Collins for Paul straight across we’d do it in a second.

Collins was just a key reason the Jazz beat the best team in the NBA.

The Jazz aren't trying to dump him. Not like they are going to be in the free agency market signing max dudes.

I would definitely not. Collins is a starter for us and starting to come along. It takes most players awhile to adapt. Its way too early to dump him for nothing. Jazz are not paying 5 million to make their team worse. The Collins hate is rough on here. He isnt worth his contract but he is a solid player.

Right now he is pretty vital to the core identity of who the Jazz are this season. Not that he isn't replaceable, but the Jazz are a 5 out team who crashes the offensive boards. You need Collins to do that.

Good points.

Yeah, I'm starting to come around to the idea that maybe we should hold on to Collins even though he gets blocked 12 times per game and dribbles like he's blind. Winning fixes many things

This is just a skeleton. I was thinking how we could send out Clarkson and take back Murray and GSW would be a team. They'd probably want Olynyk. There'd be some assets moving from GSW to Atlanta and we'd have to throw in something, too. Just a quick thought. There's some interchangeable salary ballast in here.
