Ricky Rubio. He did very well at that age against US players. He was older when he made his NBA debut but didn't help his team win. It took a few years for that.

Dirk outplayed Charles Barkley when he was 17 but then struggled as a rookie.

Tony Parker similar to above.

Darko Milicic was awesome for his national team at 17 and was a bust in the nba. He went toe to toe with current all star Pau Gasol.

The list could go on. Mostly I listed guys that had success later in the NBA but didn't help their teams win as a rookie, but there are also plenty of Darkos and worse.

Ron, your list is great but none of these players had anywhere close to a consistent stats Doncic posted as teenager playing vs grown up men in Euroleague and Eurobasket... The only player who somewhat compares to 18 year old Doncic's stats in Eurobasket was Sabonis at 19. The game you talking about Darko vs Gasol was when he was 21. Gasol first time played for Spain national team when he was 21 as well. If we just look at stats produced by 18 year olds in international basketball Doncic is pretty much the greatest ever. Can he still bust? For sure. But he as well has a chance to be the best ever player to come out of Europe.

Cy makes a really good point that Melo coming off the bench is a disaster.

And playing Lou, Warren, and Melo together? Terrible. It’s just taking “names” rather than actually building a good team.

If I could, I would change my vote to OL. Really don’t like either team.

Rubio didn't have a prolific career against grown men at that age?

Regardless, I am not looking for who matched all of his stats, just players that did well at that age.

I'm sure there are others, plus there are college usa players and many others. What you did outside of the NBA does not guarantee success in the NBA.

But even more than that rookies just don't help you win. It's extremely rare, maybe 1 player or less a year on average.

Do I play the winner of this matchup in the next round? I don't think I can handle losing to One Love twice in a month.

I know. I'm rooting for you!

Thank you bro. If I lose because people don’t count Porzingis injury against OL and because Doncic isn’t proven yet then so be it. Just gonna look bad on a re-vote next year.

Rubio's stats where amazing in U-16 championship. He did not such impressive stats as 18 year old playing vs adults. Seriously, check it out. What Doncic was doing is absolutely stunning.

Rubio stats as 18 year old in ACB and Eurolague - 9.6pts, 3.3reb, 4.2 ast, 2.2stls, .416 FG

Doncic stats as 18 year old in ACB and Eurolague - 14.5pts, 5.2reb, 4.6 ast, 1.1stl, .456 FG.
