Do not injustice to another.
Defend the weak and innocent.
Let truth and honor always guide you.
Let courage find a life within.
Stand up when no one else is willing.
Act not in hatred or in spite.
Be to this world as a perfect knight,
Even if it means your life.
Simple words to say, but difficult to live by. You mentioned that you are already a grey sheep in the family flock and afraid of going black. To be honest, I was in a similar situation where a family member was did some... heinous things, both to himself and others. However, the rest of the family was defending him, saying he could do no wrong. I worked with him, coaxed him, and was as tactful as possible. When I stood up to him and gave him an ultimatum, he chose to continue down his road. As a result of my actions, I was ostracized, excluded, and eventually left out in the cold. That family member eventually died as a result of his actions and the family will STILL not talk to me.
But my conscience is clear and my actions were honorable. You cannot put value on a good night's sleep. I still have other family, friends, my wife, and a life that is (to me) worth living.
Do unto others, my friend. I hope this helps.
Great post.
