Otto Porter was not highly recruited who had a great Sophomore year on a mediocre team. Wesley Johnson was a 23 yr old stud on Syracuse who turned out to be great in college because he was 3 years older than his competition. How many sub 6' pg's much less 5'10" pgs are there that have been great.... Chris Paul and who? For every CP3 there are a thousand guys who never make it or are career back ups.

I would rather risk #14 on a Schroeder who has the chance to hit big because he has the NBA skill that sets him apart than thinking I can turn evolution on its head with Larkin. I would rather draft Len or Adams over Noel, or Plumlee because history does not smile on 206 lb skinny big men or 23 year old serniors versus the body and skill sets of Len/Adams.

Draft the guys that have the skills and size to fill into a greater version of themselves is my point: That is for each position:

Len, Adams, Nogeira and maybe Gobert/Dieng - C
Bennett, Zeller, Grant Jarrett, Carmichael, Tony Mitchel - PF
Saric, Bullock, Snell have more upside than Porter/Bazz - SF
Pope, McCollum, Karasev, Franklin- SG
Schroeder, MCW, McCollum- PG

Hahaha.. I knew there would be a "gem" somewhere in that paragraph, and sure enough, there it is! Rep'd.
 
The last time I remember a small PG being talked about this high and teams were saying that he would be the next CP3 was DJ Augustine and they took him in front of Brook Lopez at the last second when everyone had decided in Charlotte's war room to go with the size and upside of Lopez... but the thought of the next CP3 thing caught hold and they drafted DJ... oops.

The league is filled with high draft picks who were for one reason or another ranked higher on draft day and selected higher because their accomplishments were not put into the proper context in college, and their athleticism was not projected correctly into the pros. Sheldon Williams #5 to Atlanta ouch! Marvin Williams #2 on SF upside mania? Double Ouch!. Epke Udoh #6 to GSW, Wesley Johnson #4 to Minny.

Otto Porter just reminds me too much of Wesley Johnson or Evan Turner... tons of skills but without the requisite athleticism to carry the day in the league. Bazz has some of that too.... nothing in his game says he will be able to beat his man athletically and their just aren't that many inferior athletes dominating their positions in the league.

The ones that do are the exception not the rule: Zach Randolph is a good example, but usually length and athleticism or superior skill (shooting usually or shot blocking win out).

So you think McLemore will turn out to be this year's bust, if he doesnt make ur SG list? And I think MCW is a stronger prospect than Schröder. The mental part of the game is one that doesn't favor him. And what's more concerning is the mental part aside from the court. Practice, personal life. He struggles developing habits long term. Got kicked out of school, stopped an apprenticeship he started 2 yrs ago. He wouldn't be college eligible if he wanted to do that. And not me wanting to defame american Colleges, it happens rarely that an athlete is not eligible due to academic reasons. Being German myself, I think his English is quite horrible for someone who claims he's working on it for nearly 10 years. I'd be very surprised if he turned out to be the best PG of this draft long term.

I think he would be great selection at #21. Maybe you stash him in Europe for a few years.

He'd be a great gamble at 21.

I want nothing to do with him at 14 though. In fact I'm one of the few who would rather have Larkin than him at 14.
