Following potential 2017 draftees...

Yes. Small guard with poor defensive effort. Coming off an ACL injury his senior year of HS, so question marks there.

Did the ACL seem like it has hindered him in any way? I see him being as explosive as ever. The defensive effort is a real issue, but again - I'm very wary of giving it too much credence on teams that play zone and teams that require the primary playmaker to do everything on offense. It's not a real defense you can judge and when the coaching is bad it spirals out of control very quickly. Markelle Fultz has the exact same strike levied against him.

As gaudy as John Collins season stats are, he got better as the season went on and had a PER of 38 in ACC play. That is ridiculous. As a prospect, he has warts, mainly that his biggest strength is post scoring and he just won't be used there in the NBA. But guys who are that efficient, that productive, tend to just be good at basketball and figure out how to help teams.

Great post. We're drafting at 24 and 30 not the lottery. Players are going to have their weaknesses.

I like his post stuff too... not that I want Al Jefferson, but if guys switch it's nice to have a guy that can punish them for it. Also, because he plays hard/fast he may get a basket or two per game just getting down the floor early and dropping that quick hook. He doesn't have to sit in the post crowding it all game... think he could use it a bit.

Yep. Play him 30 minutes he'll get 13-15 ppg and 10 rebs off just running the floor and hustle plays. Maybe a pick and pop 15-18 footer or two. Perhaps a couple post ups.

He needs to get better defensively so coaches can afford to play him 25 minutes or so, however. .

I'm starting to think the Jazz have a trade-up opportunity on the table involving Boris Diaw's contract and the #24 pick. Could be with Charlotte or Detroit. It explains why the Jazz are getting Mitchell to work out with them and why they interviewed Zach Collins at the Combine.

Detroit in particular wants to clean house and needs cap relief.

If the Jazz really did make a promise to DJ Wilson, it would be with the 30th pick, not 24.
