Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Really hope we can get him, but we'll probably have to move up from 21 to do so. I'm a firm believer in taking a chance on players that can bring something special despite having some drawbacks and who wouldn't want a 6'9'' playmaker? Obviously he comes with question marks about shooting, perhaps defense, but the same goes to some degree for all rookies apart from Flagg. Perhaps he busts like so many rookies that came with 'if he learns to shoot...' or 'if he starts playing defense...' labels, but we already have a top 5 pick, so by all means take a chance on him mid first round or wherever we need to be to get him.

Im not sure you will have to move up to get him.

Im intrigued by Demin, and I wouldnt mind him at 21 at all, but I wouldnt move up to get him. As a scorer he was significantly worse than a guy like Cody Williams. And I would say BYU was pretty well setup to make a guy like Demin look as good as possible. He only scored over 20 points once in the season and it was exactly 20 points. Demin does have a pretty high level skill with his passing at his size that Williams doesnt have, but he's a pretty pathetic scorer/shooter and when you cant score/shoot it's hard to be a passer in the NBA.

After watching the scrimmages I think I need to put Byrd in my top 40. He's the real deal as far as defensive prospects go and I think his offense will be better as a role player rather than a leading man.

I'm waiting until October 28th to make sure he stays, but yeah, I have my eye on him. He has a projected NBA 3pt% of 37.1% per tankathon.

That's fair. When it comes to the draft I do have a tendency to favor the best outcome for rookies, whilst turning a bit of a blind eye to the downsides.

Let him fly as long as he's playing hard on both ends
Yep.
Plus be will be playing with better teammates and with more space. NBA does have better defenders/defenses as well though.

@Elizah Huge is having a convo with Andy Larsens right now that is pretty interesting... some changes to the scouting group... sounds like they were split on Cody... and those guys may have been bounced. Kinda interesting.
Great timing, sheesh

I just don't think there's any high level archetype that explains why Hardy favors one player or another. If there's one player who has a long leash, there's probably another player who plays just like him who can't get off the bench. The real reasons are probably behind the scenes that we can't see. It also changes quickly and all the time. Ochai, Walker, and Key have all been the golden boy and the on the **** list at different times.

If I'm being honest, I think Hardy did a pretty good job at distributing playing time for development even if some decisions felt weird or unexplainable at the time. I think all our guys got enough playing time, and that's what you should expect from a tanking season. The only decision that really made me uneasy was just how much he loved Key. We don't call him Lisan al Ghaib for no reason. But I think Hardy has corrected that (or ran out of patience) and I'm more comfortable with Key's current standing.
Good post. I don't think Kessler should have ever been in the doghouse though.

Not a shot mechanics expert, but his shot looks smooth and quick
I watched way more of demin than any other player. His shot always looked good. It just didn't go in that much.
I think part of the problem was that he released his shot too late much of the time. He would release the ball on the way down after the peak of his elevation too much.

But to be honest what worried me most was his ball handling. If he is really going to be some huge point guard or point forward then he needs to get way better at dribbling while facing the defense under pressure. He always had to have his back to the defender with an arm out to shield the defender from the ball when he was dribbling.

His passing was great, rebounding and defense was good and I thought he was good at finishing around the rim. He is every inch of his measurements and looks big.

Needs a ton of work on his ball handling and some work on his shooting. I think his shooting will come around eventually.

Nolan Traore and Noah Penda week on Cashiggy. Makes sense since they are both still playing and have had some good games.

Vecenie says he thinks it's more likely that Philly takes VJ or Kon at #3 (right now) if they don't trade down or trade out.

He says he thinks VJ is more well liked in the NBA than Ace as well.

Andy Larsen reported Milos Uzan from Houston had a workout with the Utah Jazz last week. Carlos Boozer was amongst people there giving feedback.

Uzan said he shot the ball well and hopes the Jazz are interested.

Utah has the 43rd pick and Uzan is currently ranked 42nd on ESPN.

On one hand, I think PHI is a terrible spot for Ace because they will want to win quickly and his mid range game does not mix well at all with Embiid or Morey. On the other hand, forcing him into that situation where he has to be a role player might be good for him. Kind of like Brown and Tatum in Boston.

As they are as prospects right now, I think Kon fits the best.
