Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Its very on brand for the NBA guys to see the mystery box and want to open it more than the guys that got more time to expose themselves. I think there is some behind the scenes stuff with him that gives front offices promise. Seems genuine, humble and like a smart worker based on the limited reports about him I have heard.

You know GMs... both twitter and real love finding the overlooked guy. I doubt he makes it past 15... would be really happy to make the bet on him at 21 for sure.

Beyond that, he’s shot 88% from the line and 39% from three with those measurables and decent stocks. Poor competition yes, but he is kind of like the wing version of Fleming as a prospect. Easy to see him in a role, and the physical ability makes you wonder if they could be really good.

And if he interviews well and has made improvements... its easy to see why GMs were salivating and trying to keep their lust for him quiet.

I think Ace has a higher motor than Tre, and by all reports he's an extremely hard worker. He just works on the wrong things.

Yeah - there's definitely some maturation that needs to occur. He's still 18. But the "motor" questions are completely misguided IMO. That dude goes hard. It's a matter of reigning it in.

weird (maybe it was a thing in HS? no idea) how he got and has somehow maintained this reputation as a guy who doesn't play hard or work hard - maybe just his look or something. his motor is one of his greatest strengths - he plays as hard as any frosh i've seen in a while.

as you say, one does have to wonder if he's working on the right things, especially after that interview posted earlier. fortunately for whoever gets him, coaches can steer him toward the right things.

Coward looks like a monster. Long and WIDE body. Those extra inches are everything when it comes to defending + finishing at the rim. 40% from 3 to boot.

Interesting that he's a 4-year senior but only 1 year 3 months older than Derik Queen, lol.

I think it's just the conflation with being a chucker and not putting effort, which is often the case, but I wouldn't say that's the case for Ace. I'm not as high on his motor as yourself, but he's definitely more active than Tre at this stage.Motor means more to me than just shooting a lot of shots. Tre has that part covered, but so does Ace.

an absolutely beautiful, picture perfect stroke too. i didn't know he was an elite FT shooter until somebody here mentioned it, but that isn't surprising based how he shoots it. sheesh. this dude.

maybe the one ***** in the armor/red flag is that he didn't get to the FT line at EWU (for perspective, even ace bailey got to the line more times per 100 possessions in the big10). might mean he projects as not much more than a 3 and D guy, but if he could be elite at that, he'd be a great get in the back half of the lottery.

Local Hornets reporters don't think that that the Hornets will take Ace Bailey.

Their reasoning

1. Terrible fit with LaMelo and Brandon Miller
2. FO has constantly promoted how much extremely high motor and high work ethic stuff matters to them (which Tre and VJ have demonstrated more regularly)

I just finished listening to this podcast and it was quite thought provoking. Thanks for sharing!
