Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Why is anyone looking at a 10-year old Jazzfanz post for insight on drafting/ranking philosophy?

Funny -- I think draft confidence has a way of biting people in the long run.

The thing we need most in trying to figure out who is a good evaluator (or what traits are most valuable) is some kind of systematic tracking over time of people's takes, but that's exactly what we almost never see.

By the time you can really know how good a player is, nobody cares about takes from that long ago. So what you end up with is the greatest hits and misses from an evaluator that are obvious much sooner, but might not be that representative of their evaluations as a whole.

Condon going back to Florida as expected. Is there anywhere that has a full list of early entrants that are returning to college? The deadline is today at noon.

I saw this article making the rounds today. It talks about the different ways you can find an "edge" in the the draft. It cites a 10 year old Jazzfanz post made by @idiot 10 years ago where he interviews the OG Layne "VJL" Vashro who proceeds to give great insight and takes on prospects that did not age well at all lol.

This brutal lol

i hated johnson as a prospect, i think i liked frank quite a bit, hated lyles, and i think i liked booker, but maybe not as much as i should have.
this is my post the love it or hate it thread that year. didn't hate johnson as much as i remember, and liked booker more than i remember.

Thrilled with Kaminsky, Booker, WCS.

Happy with Turner, Grant

Indifferent about S Johnson, Lyles, Dekker, Portis, Payne, Looney, Hunter, Oubre

WCS' tools were absolutely absurd, incredible defensive prospect. Too bad he hated basketball and just wanted to be an artist (fine for him, but bad for my evaluation record).

That 2015 Kentucky team was probably the most annoying team ever to evaluate as KAT and Booker were handcuffed by Cal, WCS was trying for the only time in his life at basketball, and the Harrison Twins were getting forcefed minutes and touches by Cal.

KAT being forced to play inside all the time next to WCS and the Harrison Twins was a crime against basketball.

I think Watkins and Clifford should be closer than they are. 2023 Watkins is probably better prospect than 24 Clifford and Watkins.

There is zero debate on who #LockeWatch is this year. In a mock draft where Locke is deciding between these players:

CMB
Sorber
Jase
McNeely
Riley

He selects Riley with his main reason being that he's 6'8. He only shines in one of Locke's golden metrics (isolation PPP). #LockeWatch is back and we are selecting Will Riley. Even went on a rant talking about how being tough is very important in the playoffs and Will Riley is not.

Lots of mocks have the Jazz taking Will Riley too so I wonder if there is some info out there... He's kind of terrible so I wouldn't really understand this pick.

Who averages 0.4 steals per 36 as a wing prospect.

43/33/73 splits with 53% TS%, not good.

This isn't even a JHS guy where JHS looked visibly good, he just was bad, Will Riley is aesthetically horrific as well, nothing looks right.

This would have to just be Ainge having a fetish for 5 star recruits.
