Following Potential 2025 Draftees

We also have a legit NBA player that would play in front of him and neither he nor Maluach are anything but pure centers. Just absolutely no reason to incur that opportunity cost.
This. I'm not a Maluach fan, but I get why other NBA teams will be high on him. Luckily he shouldn't even be in consideration for the Jazz so I don't really need to put any more thought in to him.

I like him in the second round... with the Minny pick I think we can find more intriguing prospects maybe in the same mold (3? and D types). I think a team taking him in the 1st is relying more on his HS tape or ststanding.
I'm a big fan of his so I wouldn't hate taking him with the Minny pick. At UNC he was a too passive and focused on just being a team guy. I like the fact that he is a team first guy with plenty of game still to be unlocked.

Thanks to Cashiggy and the other channel with the long videos, I haven’t even watched many “highlights” this draft cycle. Almost feels wrong to watch a highlight video without any lowlights.
What other channel are you referring to?

Hoops Intellect does a great job of highlighting both strengths and weaknesses, best in the business in my opinion.

I’ve seen enough. I prefer fears to vj
Wow!! VJ Is on a whole different level than Fears. VJ next to Collier would be amazing. Two explosive athletes and good defenders. Fears fancy dribbling is nice but everything with VJ comes so easy as far as scoring and seems like a better shooter. VJ is easily the better player don’t be dazzled by ball handling. VJ will make winning easier imo.

Wow, I've seen a few of these pop up in my suggested videos on YouTube, but I didn't realize that had as much as they do. A little bit of information overload, but this will be amazing for guys like Hugo Gonzalez that I have not scouted at all.

Do you know for the international guys if they update their video as they keep playing games?

There are some interesting indicators that suggest he could overperform his current metrics:
-He classified early; he should’ve been a high school Senior
-His eFG was sub-50% (bad) because he shot 28% from 3 on substantial volume, however
-His TS% was nearly 60% (green/magic number) because
-He got to the line at a high rate AND shot close to 90% from the stripe (which is usually a better predictor of shooting ability)

All of that adds up with the film, and I think he could be the strongest candidate for overperforming for where he gets drafted.

I need to do more research.

I agree that VJ will look better in the NBA than in college. The way Will Hardy pushes tempo, VJ would have sequences where he flies off the TV screen. His ability to create off the dribble is still somewhat limited right now. However, his physical tools should allow him to get a step and rise up to shoot in many cases. VJ is better off the dribble than, say, Jaylen Brown, who can barely dribble at all. Brown makes up for it with his length, elevation and shot making. VJ might be a bit similar, albeit with lesser measurables. Then defensively, VJ should have an impact guarding 1s and 2s.

You just have to weigh the above against an 18 y.o. who may have the potential to be a top 10 PG in the league for a Jazz team that is desperate for on-ball creation. If you think that Fears is in the same tier as VJ, then Fears' positional value may sway you. The fact that Collier started for a 17-win team doesn't really factor into the decision unless you really believe in Collier's shooting development.

I can see the argument that Fears has more upside than VJ because of the ball handling/speed with the ball in hand. I think they are similar in terms of vision/passing. VJ just has such a large advantage as a defender that you would have to completely ignore defense to rate Fears higher.

Fears is in a tier above Jase as a playmaker, but I think they are both potentially guys that don't have enough vision/passing to lead an NBA offense, and at that point they are defensively limited combo guards, which we have plenty of already. I'm a little torn because I do feel like Jase and/or Fears could be really good, but I'm just really not excited about that player type.

Fears is a full year younger than a lot of these Freshman. I think he compares well to someone like Shroeder and if he can shoot it better he can be a star. His ballhandling is elite.
for perspective, he's two months younger than ace bailey and two months older than cooper flagg. they are the three youngest american lottery prospects by a fairly significant margin - unless i'm forgetting somebody.

Found a channel recently where the guy claims he does some scouting for nba teams. Also talks alot about shot form and says that is his area of expertise. Funny enough, he also claims to have some connections to the Jazz organization in a few of his videos. I found him to be more informative than the standard youtube scouting video.

Is fears a comparable athlete to VJ?
