Doing it once and never doing it again isn't overdoing it. That one time led to a shot clock violation. At least let them solve it once and then do something different.
Instead the Jazz tried in the 1st half to switch Lauri to Kyrie - over and over. And it didn't work at all. Lauri can't guard someone like Kyrie so closely as to prevent him shooting it every time without being blown by. And in the 4th quarter the Jazz tried - over and over - to have Kessler get over the screen to get to Kyrie. And that didn't work at all.
Sure, you can't just stop Kyrie from scoring. But at least try something that has a chance of working. Now they just gave up the shot, time after time.
