And why are you searching for those specifically as opposed to any other derivation which could include additional words?

The reason I ask is this is a balance for database size and speed of overall search. I guess I'd just like to know valid use cases where you'd search for ONLY "AK" and not "AK salary" for example.

It's a non issue, don't worry about it. Anything you need to search for that is only 2 letters long can also be searched for with 4 letters.

Any plans to implement tapatalk?

Thanks for leaving the SmileTrain ads up there. I am now having nightmares every night.

At least Train's appropriate though. Those kids' faces look like they were run over by one.

It is a very simple way of finding your favorite player without having to delve into every new post. If you only want to know about a player's salary or acne or girlfriends then the modifiers make sense. If you want to learn all there is to know about what is being talked about in regards to a player you search for the name by which they are called. Every modifier becomes that much more specific and more than likely you will miss what is being talked about. Though I understand the need to balance speed etc. it makes it very difficult to find discussions and mentions about players. If you want to put in a word substitute for every possible 2-3 letter combination such as AK47 anytime AK is put in or Fesenko anytime someone uses Fes or Fez then that could work as well.

Also being able to use some of the shorter strings also allows for flexibility in finding posts when people (of which there are many on this board) who can't spell. I can't tell you how many stupid ways I've seen Fesenko's name spelled but most people tend to at least get the first 3 letters correct.

Is there no way to ignore people? I have to tell you, since nobody is banned the site has been pretty annoying to read lately.

from the FAQ at the top of the page

Dealing with Troublesome Users

Can I block posts, emails and messages from specific users?

If there are particular members that bother you and you do not want to see their posts or receive Private Messages and Emails from them, then you can add these members to your 'Ignore List'. There are several ways to do this:
Through your User Control Panel: User CP, Settings & Options, Edit Ignore List. Then, type their name into the empty text box and click 'Okay'.

What if I see something offensive?
You will find 'Report' links in many places throughout the board. These links allow you to alert the board staff to anything which you find to be offensive, objectionable or illegal.

OK, well I just tried to follow the advice above and ran into a problem right off the bat - - I was not able to locate my USER CONTROL PANEL!!!! I'm either blind or dumb (or both) but I just don't see it.

What I ended up doing, after a bit of trial and error and just poking around, was I went to my profile by clicking my own username. Then at the top menu (right under the Jazzfanz name) go to the option "Forum Actions" and when the drop-down menu appears, choose "Edit Profile". Then, under "My Settings" in the "My Account" section is the option to "Edit Ignore List". When you choose that you can enter the username you wish to ignore.

Hopefully that works.

If anyone can point me toward the User Control Panel, I'd appreciate it!

From the top of the page, choose Forum Actions -> General Settings. Then all the various control panel settings show up on the left (including "Edit Ignore List").

(*Yes!* I can feel those reputation points pouring in!)

excuse me Colton, but all you did was repeat what I had written immediately above you!

Points??? Points????
LOL

at any rate, on the old board, it actually was called the "User Control Panel" and that's what I was looking for!

At least "smut" is not in the filter this time around.

Was "****" added or was that a default? I guess I am missing why the word is filter-worthy.

Testing...

pron
****
pornography

If you change the "o" in pron to a zero "0", it will be censored.

The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search:
fes

Sorry, dead horse but it would still be nice.
