Ya i pay hundreds of dollars per month for insurance yet its still so expensive to get treated for things that i have needed surgery on a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder since last September but havent gotten the surgery because i cant afford it.

And often to see a specialist it’ll take months and months. It took nearly four months for me to get an appointment with my ENT and get surgery. In those four months I suffered through nonstop sinus infections.

All the excuses I remember reading 13 years ago against having a Medicaid option in the ACA were really just projection. We’ve needed to go to a single payer system a long time ago. Where it’s with nonprofit insurance companies like other western democracies have or a straight Medicare system, like Canada. It should be treated like a utility.

Unfortunately, many on the right won’t like that because they’ll see brown and black people getting something.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, health care needs to be treated as a utility. We don't auction off electricity to the highest bidder or require people to take out loans to get their garbage picked up. Because we recognize as a society that providing these basics helps all of us together. It's about time we recognize the same thing about medical care. Forcing people to not be able to get basic care causes them to use emergency services and wait until it really is an emergency which is demonstrably far more expensive than preventative care. Plus people that don't have to worry about healthcare are less stressed, healthier and far more productive, which benefits us all. And then when we do have true emergencies, it's likely to be less severe and the money is there to take care of it. Why can't we figure this **** out? We worship capitalism so hard, and we deify billionaires so much, we lose sight of what makes a society work. Socialism has become such an evil word that half our population is completely brainwashed against anything you can label as "socialist". Tell your anti-socialism neighbor that our electricity, water/sewer and road systems are partially socialized and watch their head explode. But until we figure out how to turn health care into a utility things are going to get worse. Way worse.

The US could probably do it just by simply cutting the war machine budget by a small percentage and have money left over to have wine coming from our faucets and pave the roads in gold. The US does everything they can to ensure socialist governments don't succeed in other countries. People like to point at socialist government failures, but they don't take into account the sanctions and handcuffs the US puts on these countries. I am not saying that I would be for a socialist government, but I do think there are socialist programs that make a lot of sense.

because the pentagon can't or aren't willing to show that they are accountable. They have failed to show that they can prevent waste fraud and abuse. They have failed 5 audits and cannot account for 61% of it's 3.5 Trillion in assets. At the very least could someone explain why does this budget continue to rise with no accountability.

I did, and unfortunately I responded. I guess I should have just said, because it would be a much wiser use of those funds? Or, I don't know that the US would NEED to cut the defense budget, but it seems like a simple solution to finding the funds for health care which is always a sticking point? I think health care is a much better use of those funds? I don't know what you're after specifically. I thought most folks could see this logic from my original answer but maybe not.

Imagine the outrage from Utahns in Davis county if Hill Air Force base were closed. And TBH, maybe Biden should? Utah is a Ruby red state that’ll never vote for him. Some freedoms are more free than others. Same sometimes freedom comes wrapped in rules and social expectations and empathy that make people think it isn't actually freedom, but when they deny it they find themselves far more bound than if they had taken it how it comes.
