What's new

Jazz Roster As Of Today

I could roll with that. However, I do want us to re-sign DeMarre Carroll. And Randy Foye's shooting ability would be a good asset to have off the bench.

Problem is, Foye will NOT come off the bench. Remember, Ty is still the coach. He'll put Foye out there for his "veteran leadership" and likely play him 30 mins. And Randy will set another record for most 3's chucked.

No, they don't. Jazz don't have to spend another dime. If they're under the minimum at season's end, the difference is paid to the players on the roster as a bonus. Trust me, the Jazz' plan, which KOC has been talking about for 2+ years (and which Lindsey has been very open about) is to have plenty of cap space available at the deadline. They believe some real bargains will be offered as teams scramble to get under the punitive 1.5-2X luxury tax. Utah is in perfect position to start a bidding war and demand a fortune. Essentially, taking on a $10M player at the deadline could save a team up to $25M (the remaining salary for 2014 + the 2x tax penalty). That's the kind of salary relief that could fetch not only a very good player, but also a lottery pick. We'll have around $25M for those types of deals, depending on how the Jazz fill out the roster.

Exactly! Beside the fact the Jazz want to start re-signing there young guys to keep them in the fold. Lindsay is a genius if he can pull over a deal which nets us a high 2014 pick.

sign jarrett jack 1 year 6million
sign a center 1 year 5 million.

Jack is not looking for a one year deal. He opted out so he could get paid. Why spend 5 million on a center who isn't going to play and is not in the Jazz future plan. Sign an undrafted rookie and keep the cap space for the deadline.

Tomic isn't coming over...EVER.

I would have agreed with you yesterday... today I'm not so sure. If the Jazz are willing to spend $3 million for a very late first round draft pick, then perhaps they are willing to offer Tomic enough to convince him to leave Europe. I'm sure he has a price.

PG Burke, McNeil, Neto
SG Burks, Murphy
SF Hayward, Marvin
PF Favors, Evans
C Kanter, Rudy

Thats 11 players! Assuming Neto and Rudy come over this year.

I'd assume Foye and Junkyard Dog will be back. Now were at 13.

Add in Tomic and were at 14!

Crazy.

No way Tomic comes over if Gobert is over here.

I saw Murph play in a DLeague game last year and he looked horrible in that game. He must have had a few more moments like that. Holy Mo Almond Batman.

We have to spend about 20 million dollars right now to be at the min. Its around 50 million I think this year. We are close to 30 million.

We have to spend some money. Most likely a veteran PG, big man, and veteran SF to fill the cap room. Combine for about 15 million total. Than the rest can be small contracts that add up to 5-10 million.
I've seen this on here a lot. Technically the Jazz DO NOT have to spend anything. If they don't get to the minimum they have to split the extra money with their players or something like that. But they don't have to spend it.
.
I expect them to be players in acquiring guys at the trade deadline to save some teams penalty dollars. And you can't spend that money this off season if you want to take advantage of that.
.
This is the way I understand it. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Preferable GVC or Kenwood whom I consider the experts on the CBA. Thanks.
.
Core4 beat me to it.

Who the hell are McNeal & Neto?

McNeal is that 2nd D-leaguer the Jazz brought in last year. They signed him for a couple years. Neto is a Brazilian PG that the Jazz picked up late in the draft last night. #48 or something like that.

Gotta agree. The Jazz technically don't need to spend a dime. The cap situation the Jazz are in, the players they have now, and simple time will get the results.

Thing is Corbin is out of time. He needs to coach properly or he'll be gone. Bringing in both Sloan and Malone are testaments to that. The FO will tolerate a losing season and the fans will. With a core this young, that's just expected. But if he gets dumb and starts a crappy vet over Hayward or decides that Favors and Kanter need "more time to learn", he'll be s-canned by mid-season. The fact the Jazz bought a draft pick since who knows when is a testament to the new aggressiveness of the FO.

But they also understand time and patience are their allies. As that luxury tax situation draws close, they simply have to wait. After that, the Devil's Contract trade is academic. Watch for the Nets to make a deal in particular.

Fleece a team for a 2014. Offer to take a contract for some picks in that draft. Adding 2 2014 picks to our current roster could spell eliteness for the Jazz and fear for the league.

As shown by the NOLA/Philly trade, you have to give up an All-Star to get a 2014 pick (and that was even top-5 protected for a 23 year old All-Star).

What are the free agents in 2014? Any one that teams will be desperate to get a shot at?
