Jefferson or Millsap for 5th pick and Garcia?

Yeah, I think the trade would need to look like this. Jazz take on the 3 years and $22m (3rd year is team option that we could decline) left owed to Salmons and also give up the higher of their 2013 draft picks (ours or GS's), maybe you can get top 6 protection on the pick or something on the...

Which of our current bigs likeliest to get traded to OKC?

Millsap for Perkins and Maynor. Millsap would give them some low post scoring and is versatile enough not to bog down their fast paced offense. Perkins is a decent defender but his contract is a big hinderance on whether they can keep Harden/Ibaka past next season. Dealing him now for...

Draft: The Player the Jazz Need Most is...Harrison Barnes

Latest rumors have Charlotte interested in Barnes as early as #2. Cavs also allegedly have interest at #4. His floor is probably the Kings at #5. I think the Jazz do have the assets to make a deal with the Kings to get up at #5 (Millsap, future 1st rounders and taking on a bad contract) but...

    A trade idea (somewhat)

I guess I just have a different definition of what a salary dump. I consider a salary dump to be what NO did today by trading 2 rotation players for nothing in return but cap relief. Trading Deng for the #5 pick in the draft could bring back a potentially better player, so it is a trade done...

Another trade idea...it's from me so it involves Deron

I'm surprised this isn't coming from a Nets fan. They were just able to trade Anthony Morrow for D12.

Orlando has leverage here, but admittedly not all of it. They do have D12 locked up for a whole season. Wouldn't they rather keep D12 and Reddick and try for a deep playoff run instead of giving them both up for Al Jefferson and then plan on letting him walk next season?

lol. Al is .01 better than D12 in that metric and Ian Mahinmi is .02 better than Al. Perhaps Orlando should forget taking Al for D12 and Reddick and just acquire Mahinmi instead. At least Mahinmi plays defense.

    A trade idea (somewhat)

Chicago is not looking for a true salary dump though. They are trying to get a top 10 pick for Deng, which would be a prospect of equal value, just younger and cheaper.

    A trade idea (somewhat)

We don't have what the Bulls want which is a younger/cheaper replacement wing for Deng. A Devin Harris and Alec Burks trade works for Deng, but not sure that an older Deng is worth giving up on the upside of Burks.

Rashard Lewis and #46 got traded for Okafor and Ariza

That's my question. They have the cap space that they could deal #10 for Millsap straight up. Jazz would get another TPE out of it and a decent prospect. I'm not sure NOLA would want to blow their cap wad on Millsap before shopping the free agent market first.

Another trade idea...it's from me so it involves Deron

So let me get this straight, Orlando is dealing Dwight Howard and JJ Reddick for Al Jefferson and perhaps the Golden State 1st round pick the Jazz own? I think the Magic have much better trade offers out there. I'm pretty sure they could get Bynum straight up for D12 from the Lakers or a...

    Draft day trade

Rashard Lewis's contract is only partially guranteed this year. This doesn't save them that much money.

Yet another trade idea (#5 pick)

I don't think Sacramento would want to pair Cousins with Jefferson. Millsap fits better contractually and on the floor.

Some tidbits from Chad Ford's Chat

This is very true. If it was Millsap straight up for #10 (which works since NOH has cap space), then the Jazz would go from having $4m in cap room to having $12m in cap room and being serious players in the Dragic/Batum/Ilyasova derbies. I'm guessing though we'd have to take back Ariza...

Jazz as the third team in a Dwight Howard trade

I think if I'm Orlando I'd rather keep Turk's bad contract and take back Jrue myself. They can stomach continuing to pay Turk so much when Jrue is paid so little.
