2011 draft.....

You may be right. But hell, as long as they don't re-sign AK, Burks would probably get some solid PT here and there.

I like Brandon Knight. I think he can become a good starter but I don't see the all-star potential in him. He just doesn't have the athletic ability to get into the lane against a good defender. But he is a big PG who can shoot, defend and pass the ball well enough.

Burks may be our best option at 12. The problem is that skill he provide traditionally hasn't been well used by the Jazz. We don't usually make the best us of SG who can drive but not shoot. Also I think it would take Burks a while to learn how to play NBA D.

If we are going to draft Knight at 6 I would rather go a different direction than Burks at 12.

If Knight could rein in his chucking a little I would be on board in drafting him. There is no denying this guy just takes some flat out bad shots. He took bad shots in his high school championship game (shot 12-30), and in the NCAA final four game as well (shot 6-23). He is very young, and a straight A student so those are the wildcard factors that give hope he can change his game.

Want a great video to watch and see what kind of players b knight, b jones and ends kanter are goto YouTube type in Kentucky summer conitioning. You see if players put in the effort when they don't have to. That a lot of times means a player who will get better.

How would that work out for the Jazz? If they ended up drafting Knight and Burks? Harris/Knight, Hayward, and Burks all seem to play their best when they have the ball in their hands able to create. None of them are great spot up shooters or post players. I wonder if all 4 will be able to mesh?

Are the Jazz looking to update their system and go a little small? Perhaps they could screw up other teams by sometimes putting out a lineup of Knight and Harris at the 1 and 2 respectively to give them more of a Kidd/Terry Kidd/JJ or Felton/Lawson look?

If Burks is drafted, would that mean that Hayward would move over to the 3?

Where would CJ (option remaining), Raja (who's under contract), and AK (FA) fit into all of this?

I noticed plenty of voices vouching for GETTING BIGGER TO BEAT LA.
Come on, it's no more Lakers, Spurs or Mavs league anymore. Building a team for 2-4 years to beat someone who is already on a steady decline is the easiest way to lose your future. Generals always prepare for wars of the past.
We will have to be prepared to beat Heat, Grizzlies and Thunder when our still non-existing young core will gain some experience. And I'm not sure it will be feasible to match those in their best aspects. We will have to find another way - proper system players, mental and physical toughness and superior basketball IQ.

I think it is more about replicating what the Lakers have done. Having Bynum and Gasol with Odom coming off the bench is a huge weapon. By duplicating a winning formula, we hope to see the same results. I know, we don't have Kobe or a Kobe. So we will have to make due with what we can get through the draft etc.

Jazz are most likely not going to get the black falcon since he has gone back to school. Unless he totally tanks he will be long gone before the Jazz draft next year. The GS pick is top 7 protected so the best the Jazz can hope for is the 8th pick.

Not if the Jazz pick is better...

I never knew Knight was so young. Obviously he's going to be one of the young guys in the draft because he's coming out after his freshman year, but I guess he's by far the youngest guy in the draft, and according to DraftExpress he's younger than a lot of HS seniors. Kid got really good grades (4.3 GPA) so maybe he skipped a year?

I am fully expecting, and almost hoping that this happens. I'd much rather be awful for one and a half seasons, and develop the young guys to be formidable in 2-3 years for multiple years, than average 40-45 wins every year. I think the Jazz can copy what OKC did, but hopefully do it in half the time.

Earlier today, I realized that I hadn't done any homework on Reggie Jackson but holy ****. (>)50/(>)40/(<)80 percentages, 1.5 PPS (18 ppg on 12 shots), one of the three best players in isos on the season, 4.3 rpg, 4.5 apg (about a 2:1 assist/turnover ratio) in an athletic 6' 3", 200+ pound body with room to build and a great wingspan? Consider me sprung.

The downside is he is 21 so you can't really hope that he suddenly becomes a passing point guard. So do we want a scorer/combo guard at 12?

Check his game log on ESPN and see how he does against the better schools. That should calm you down a little bit...

Knight announces he is staying in the draft: https://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2011/news/story?id=6492876

Knight is the first of three Kentucky underclassmen to announce his intentions after testing the draft waters. Freshman Terrence Jones and junior DeAndre Liggins have not announced their plans before Sunday's NCAA deadline for early-entry players to withdraw from the draft.

Jones and Liggins still not sure.

If Jones is out this draft is so much weaker.
