So you'd rather trade a proven 20 10 guy, even knowing his replacements suck, because of your spite for his over-played flaws?
you seem to be stuck on his price tag, when 1) we won't be in financial trouble this year, and 2) for the immediate future I highly doubt we resemble anything of a major player in free agency, especially without having to overpay for a big man to entice them here, which is your big issue with al in the first place...
Let the man make his money, put up his 20 and 10, and root for him to grow his game personally and for the team. 27 is still young, and if he improves even slightly, he is a unique asset for this team. A stud who actually wants to be here, works the PR, has been busting *** to improve himself, and doesn't start any drama.
I would never trade Jefferson if I knew his replacements sucked ***... What good does that do the team?
It depends on your viewpoint, if you wanna be a team like we were in the last 5 years, then go ahead, keep Jefferson, so we will keep being an average playoff team with him. Imo he is like a less disastorous defender and slightly better offensive player than Boozer who has much worse mid range shoot. He literally doesn't bring anything to a team to improve to contender level. He will never be a player like that. Such players like Boozer, Big Al, Lewis, they are overpaid and they don't bring the team even half of what they are paid for. And since they are overpaid, you can't bring some important players to the team to compensate them. Thats why they can never be on a contender team, unless they are at the age of 35, coming off the bench and getting 5 million per year.
Also the fact that we don't have financial problem this year doesn't mean we won't have it in 2 years. It is obvious we aren't gonna be able to keep same group of players 3 years from now. And Big Al will probably be the one who will be expanded. There is a tiny little chance that Kanter will suck, Favors will be just a decent starter, so that we will still need Big Al, and continue being a fragile playoff team. But just for that little tiny chance, why wouldn't i expand Big Al now if i get a favorable deal in return ?
Start Millsap and Favors, bring Kanter and Memo from the bench, thats good enough backcourt for our calibre team right now. Another problem we have is, we don't have a legit pg to lead the team and we dont have a SF at all if AK leaves. These things may be considered for next year's draft. But we can fill these spots in return of Big al deal too.
I don't expect any success this year, so i don't really mind if we are not gonna make playoffs at all. However looking at the future years, maybe some people will laugh but Kanter will be the key player to determine how far this team will go. Hayward and Favors are other core members but their potential are more or less clear. They will be very good starters who will help the team and maybe allstars if things go well, but no one knows how good Kanter can be yet. If he can be as good as i believe, this team can go much further than we did in the last 5 years, if he can't be as good as even Boozer, then we will probably be the same things as we were in the recent year.
