Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

Well, Dennis it probably would've been a lot easier had you traded for a late 1st rounder before the draft had actually begun. We could've gotten Dejounte, Skal or Davis. No one had predicted for them to fall that low and the Jazz started to scramble after they saw that I bet.

There are a lot of reasonable criticisms of Lindsay. But not having mapped out strategies and having to scramble as a result seems quite against his nature.

I wouldn't equate very active to going after the really high priced FA's.
One player I do think he'll target hard is Mirza Teletovic (sounds like a character out of Games of Thrones).

I know he was fine last year, but big men with blood clot issues concern me. I think Pau Gasol would make more sense. Everything Teletovic does is what we want Lyles to do. I'm worried that a guy like that makes Lyles redundant. Give me the offensive big that can play with Lyles.

I listened to DUdley's interview where he mentioned Utah as a possible destination. He was talking about how he is ready to do whatever it takes and that he won't be demanding minutes. He was saying that he wants to be a vet for young team and that he can help even from the bench.

Also has said he wants a three year deal. Once we extend favs and hill which I think will happen... If we can send Burke and Tibor packing we have about $10 M to get to the floor. If he takes a one year $10M I'm in... 2 years with those extensions gets tricky unless we trade Burks... 3 years is a no way at those numbers because he'd be really hard to move and I'm concerned he won't age particularly well.

I think the Hill addition and likely extension takes us out of the Dudley business unless the market sours for him... Which is obviously possible.

Pretty funny. Both KOC and DL used to say they explored all options, but price was too high, and they liked the players they had. I think it was an overpay for Hill and that the pick should have been used on someone with high upside. But at least DL finally did something.

Stifle...who would you have drafted? Name names, please. Who is this high upside player you would have drafted at #12?

My numbers are off a bit here... we'd actually be about $6-8 M from the floor if we let go of CJ , Mack, Burke, Tibor and took no salary back. I still expect us to operate damn close to the floor.

We don't have 20 minutes for Dudley in the rotation at this point. I guess if you plan on having injuries maybe.

Hayward, Favors, and Gobert should all be around 32-36 minutes. Hood and Hill need around 30. Exum, Lyles, and Burks 20-25. That's 90-95% of our minutes already allocated when healthy.

Then we have Mack, Ingles, Neto who are all decent fill in options.

Here is my guess on the player we get:

High end: Jerebko, Tucker, Lance Thomas (on a high one year deal with team option for year two)

More likely: Anthony Tolliver, Quincy Pondexter, Quincy Acy

Could also see us get Brandon Bass, Jon Leuer, Andrew Nicholson or Tyler Hansbrough. Or a more traditional wing like Wes Johnson, Chase Budinger, etc.

If the price was right I'd love Solomon Hill, but other teams probably would offer a bigger salary and better role.

So basically I think it will be one or two meh moves, but that's all we really need tbh.
Sounds like basically that the cake will be baked

Why would he answer that question? No matter who he says you will respond that that player either sucks or isn't nearly as good as hill.

You are really high on hill and hated almost everyone in the draft even guys that went earlier like j murray and buddy hield.

It's pointless for him to give you a name.... unless you can think of a guy that would have been available at 12 who you would rather have than hill. If not, then like I said, it's pointless for him to give you a name.

I've had a sneaky feeling since the end of last season that this may be the year DL really starts to put this team together. They have had time to evaluate most of the youth we had, and he has been talking alot about how he wants vets to come in and complement the foundation. It's going to be a Intresting offseason for us.

Great observation.

Acquiring Hill was anti cake bakking doe!

We are making soup... last seasons batch turned out a little bland. Our produce is ripening and we added some additional spice. The soup is simmering.

Eh, maybe. On the surface it loss that way. We were going to add someone with the #12 pick anyway though.

It was a move to acquire a vet to speed this thing along... cake bakking would have been making the pick and developing a player.

No, I just want him to actually make a name, instead of naming the field. Ya feel me? I'm sure there will be a player taken after #12 that's close to as good as Hill...doesn't mean anything if you just call for the field though.

And by VERY active I'm sure he means- clear up the bottleneck at point guard by making one or two small trades. And then signing one or two mid to low level free agents (similar to the Trevor Booker signing) so we can make that 8 seed this year. Everything depends on getting this team to being average!

Yeah, Cake baking is ending and vet enhancement has begun. This year will have some overlap.

I feel ya. Fair enough.

Sorry for being unnecessarily testy with ya in my post. Twas uncalled for

I wonder who we will take with the 14th pick next year. I can't wait!
