What if he eventually figures out that you don't need a pass to visit Vail City?Oops, yeah... duh. I just looked at games started. Now I remember him being out a ton. At least his per 36 number haven't dropped off.
One Love is right, but we can always dream. Maybe we could give him a guaranteed coaching position after he's done... A lifetime season pass to Vail City?
Assuming zero injuries
Hill(30) Exum(18)
Hood(18) Burks(30)
Hayward(35) Hood(13)
Bigs
Favors(30) Gobert(30) Lyles(20) FA(16)
If we have a wing/guard injury a guy like Dudley can keep us afloat. Let's say Hill goes down for 2 weeks. Exum takes the full 30 at PG, Burks plays 18 @ backup pg, Hood takes 30 at SG, and Dudley fills in the 13 mins behind Hayward. We need another big but he needs to be able to play the 3 imo.
His first name is Max, right?
Country music legend Max D. Barnes? Just clarifying.

I think we would all love to have gasol. Not sure why some people think Gasol wouldn't be the perfect fit here.
Gasol may or may not want the situation. He is a big boy and can make up his own mind. But, I am not sure another team would offer him a bigger contract. We are in the unique position where we can front load contracts like other teams likely won't do without jeopardizing our future. We are looking for guys to come in for 2 years and help us grow. Pau likes the coach, won't get similar money from other squads, and will make the playoffs with the Jazz. The Spurs are nice, but he will get $4 million per year or something like that with the Spurs. He could get $8 - $10 million from us next year. Now, I know many of you think players are all about the rings, but money talks my friends.
Stoked is on the struggle bus today.

I'd like Lyles to play 25 minutes and Exum to get at least 20... don't have much of a problem with any of the other stuff.
The issue is that leaves like 10 minutes for FA-X... does Gasol want to play 10 minutes a night? I also think you could ramp up any of the other guys by a few minutes when healthy and we are fine. We also have decent rotation fill in guys like Ingles, Neto, and Withey.
Tbh... I actually like the idea of bringing Booker back if he strikes out. He would be lower on the depth chart, but I'd almost rather bring him back on a 1 or 2 year deal to be the fourth big. There would be no learning curve and he fits in. I'm not sure his market will be terribly robust.
This sounds like me and some others last year when we wanted to bake the cake.
I was asking the same questions about minutes when people were suggesting overpaying for Danny green, demarre carroll, and wes matthews. You even mention ingles, neto, and withey as being good in the whole limited backup/emergency role. (I said similar things too last summer)
I always thought you were of the opinion that you simply go out and get all the talent possible and don't worry about minutes. If people are unhappy with minutes/roles Just trade em and all that.
Interesting.
I think the main problems we will have with free agents this summer are the following:
1. We probably are not great destination for the very best FAs
2. We cannot guarantee starting spot or even big minutes for the middle-tier FAs(our roster is relatively full - we have 3 wings, 2-3 PGs, 3 bigs)
3. We might want to limit ourselves to short-term deals, to preserve long-term flexibility
Who would prefer a short-term deal to long term deal or would willingly accept short term deal - either a player who wants to build up his value and hit free agency again or a player at the end of his career when he knows he cannot demand long-term big money deals. No. 2 pretty much eliminates the players who want to build up their value, unless they think they can get enough minutes on this team. Thus the only category of player that fits what we would be offering is - low-mid tier vet at the end of the career(gets final overpay to be a vet on a good team and mentor the young players, rather than demand huge playing time). The more I think about it the less likely I think it is that we get one of the young players coming out of their rookie deals who are considered mid-tier(Solomon Hill, Motiejunas, Crabbe, etc).
I think Luol Deng might get a longer-term contract than we think(3-4 years) and we probably can't offer him that.
Jared Dudley is probably one of the few that makes a TON of sense. He has said that he will be searching good pay and that he thinks he can help a young team and wouldn't demand minutes(can help even from the bench).
The other type of player we might expect getting is the low-tier players that can't afford to be picky about their options and are willing to sign contract to stay in the league.
Conclusion - I would try targeting Dudley and one of the low-level FA(Leuer), but my main focus would be trying to trade our logjam of backup PGs for a backup SF. My main target would be Reggie Bullock from the Pistons - they need backup PG after they traded theirs and didn't address it in the draft. Other options - Jerami Grant and Robert Covington from PHI.
Ingles, Neto, and Withey are all kind of perfect 10-12 guys. In a pinch they work okay... If we were projecting one of them to get more than 10 minutes a night I think attempting an upgrade is wise.
