Ford:

Singleton looked good at ATTACK. Defensively, he was pretty dominant in the 3-on-3 action I saw. His lateral movement and explosiveness really make him a nightmare defensively.

he was "pretty dominant"? BOLD! and yet his defense is a "nightmare"?

beginning AND ending sentences with the word "defensively"... now that is a nightmare, er I mean not a nightmare.

Can you show me any stats? The only thing I see about him on DX is that he played 4 games in the 08/09 season in something called EURO, averaged 7.9 minutes averaging 2 points on 40% shooting.

It is already a big success for a player to play in euroleague at the age of 16. European basket depends more on tactics than athletism, and if such a raw player take chance at that age, its already a big achievement. And noone expect Enes to play like lebron james in his first year. By time he will grow up and those nows bigger and older players will be his match again right?

I just read Chad Ford's Insider feature on Kanter. He says there is a good chance that Kanter might end up being the #1 pick, depending on who wins the lottery. He also said that Kanter is shooting lights out in individual workouts and is among the best international prospects since Nickoloz Tskitishvili and Maciej Lampe.

I started this thread and have thought about this topic long and hard for the last couple of days (shows how much of a life I have)!

The more I thought about it the more I realise what a great fit the Jazz would be for Kanter, and vice versa. And I do think that may warrant us picking Kanter if we do get the #1 pick for the following reasons:

1. Utah has a history of being able to nurture International talents and keeping them very happy (i.e., not wanting to sign as a free agent else where). Case in point - Kirilenko (would love to come back to be a Jazz), Okur (signed with the Jazz).

2. Kanter seems to be one of those rare International talents who seems to have that "Drive" to really succeed at the highest level. He was really very impressive at the Hoop Summit and impressing a lot of NBA scouts.

3. Jazz will have Okur for 1 more year. And seeing as Kanter is also from Turkey I can't think of a better mentor for Kanter to ease himself into the NBA. I really do think that the situation would provide a great platform for Kanter to succeed.

4. I really do think that Kanter will form a very complementary front court pairing with Favors. From what I've seen, Kanter is a force on the offensive end with an array of offensive inside moves as well as a very good shooter. Favors (currently anyway) is more of an athletic defensive big man.

In conclusion I do think that the Jazz could be one of those teams where picking Kanter #1 seeing how it makes sense from a number of perspectives.

Can you spell B-U-S-T?

I'd definitely draft Enes Kanter at 35, hype him as White Shaq, start him for fifteen games hoping it will light a fire under Fesenko, and then trade his *** for a real prospect. Fes > Kosta Kanter. He's a lottery gamble, not a lottery pick.

Enes was the largest guy on the floor at the NHS and got a lot of easy buckets from good setups. Nothing impressed me. He won't get any of that in the NBA and is way too slow to be a defensive threat.

There's a lot of mention of Fes on the roster next year, but I just don't see him signing with the Jazz. He's an unrestricted free agent who hasn't set the world on fire in four seasons. Some blamed the lack of PT on Sloan, but Fes actually played even less once Corbin took over. If I'm Fes, why would I come back to the Jazz? Wouldn't I try again somewhere else?

After watching his highlights from that one game in the Rose Garden, I'm even more convinced the Jazz shouldn't draft him.

He barely got off the floor and looked slower than Boozer.

Folks, we need to get longer, quicker, and more defensive minded.

I think the best case scenario for Kanter would be Memo. And we've seen that movie before.

Lets move on.

There's going to be 3-4 Derrick Williams and 3-4 Brandon Knights in next year's draft, but there won't be another Enes (maybe ever). I'm still trying to figure out if that means he's good, or he sucks. I'm leaning towards: solid.

I've seen some comments about bad knees, but I haven't seen them from reputable websites; however, Chad Ford did write that Kanter had a back injury during the Nike Hoop Summit in April.

Kanter, then just 17, shook off a poor week of practices (he later revealed he had a sore back that kept him from jumping and almost prevented him from playing) to dominate in the game. Kanter had 34 points (a Hoop Summit record), 13 boards and did it all in 22 minutes. He did a lot of his damage against McDonald's MVP Jared Sullinger. I wrote back then that "Kanter was a beast in the paint, muscling his way in for position and regularly clawing his way through a pair of Team USA's high-profile bigs for a whopping eight offensive boards ... Not only was he a bear around the basket, but he also showed off his ability to put the ball on the floor and hit the outside J. On Saturday night, Kanter looked like a future lottery pick."

The sore back would be a huge red flag for me. Do the Jazz really want another guy sitting out stretches because of a sore back? Maybe it was a one time tweak, but I hope they would check it out thoroughly before drafting him if he's available for them.

i think the #1 option in the poll will increase by margin from today on

I'd rather have Biyombo. Kanter's jumpers in an empty gym suuure look sweet, but I've already seen enough of Biyombo trying to kill folks to fall in love.

What happened?

Did you and Biyombo have a bad fight and break up?

Given the lack of empirical data on Kanter at the time, you can't be too hard on his doubters. I liked him as our pick at the time, but it was due to the fact the other options (Knight, Biyombo, Vesely) all had even bigger red flags.

Exactly. Its all in fun.

What fun is it to make predictions if we can't look at them later? Especially when some people like to be dickheads when getting the their point across.

If you cant handle your terrible predictions being made fun of, then stop calling people names and making stupid predictions.
