Favors returns!

Not that I expect them to trade either Favors or Thabo, but if they bring back Jerebko and Udoh the Jazz will have a ridiculous $42 million available to possibly trade at the deadline.

Favors - $18.0 million
Burks - $11.5 million
Thabo - $5.3 million
Jerebko - $4.0 million
Udoh - $3.4 million

That’s enough to get a max player, plus take back bad salary to facilitate a deal or add an asset in the process. There’s multiple ways to get up to ANY salary in the league at this year’s trade deadline.

If the Jazz choose to, all of that comes off the books next year. Either that, or they convert part of that salary to a single player who can contribute in the playoffs.

And Ricky... $12Mil (not that I expect him to go anywhere)

I bet DL offered him two options. A 4 year, more fair value deal, at around 10m a year. A short 2 year deal at way more per year but we get a team option.

if we grab Exum, I think Udoh and Jerebko are gone-- which is too bad.

Favors comes into the season in the best shape of his life and ready to go for a title. He must be pumped. The future in his hands and cashing big checks.

And the Jazz in a good place knowing they can build on last years success.

The problem is that Jerebko and Udoh are two players. If they were one player with their skills combined, that'd actually be a player I'd feel bad about losing.

How heavily can you front load a contract? Can we give him 24 mill this year and have only 12 on the books next year? Or 26 and 10? Something like that? I am not a cap-ologist.
It's the same amount that you can back load a contract. I.e. if you can do a 10 million - 26 million contract (you can't), then you can do a 26 million - 10 million contract.

I think can't be emphasized enough. Jazz are giving him a year to prove himself. Even with next year's projected market, he won't get that much as things are now. This is on him to put up or shut up. If things turn out? We have him another year. If not? No loss.

I believe the percent you are allowed to change is the same, but in a front-loaded contract, you are taking that percent of a higher amount. So under 10% difference, 8-9-10 is not possible but 10-9-8 is.

Hey guys, remember when all those rumors we were going to buyout Faves? Good times.

Yeah, that was ridiculous. Dude had no idea what he was talking about. He obviously didn’t follow us at all and he got clowned on in the comments.

You would have to pay close to the max, then.

I went to bed wearing my Favors t-shirt last night just in case it was the last time. Very happy to hear this news, not only does the dude deserve every penny i think he's actually pretty close to worth it anyway for what i think he'll do this coming season. Happy times. Now if we waive Jerebko and pick up Belly our offseason work will be complete

Thrilled Faves is back. I wouldn't be sad if Dante isn't. His shooting is just so unlikely to ever be nba caliber. Love his ability to drive, but is too exposed shooting it.
