JUs plain stupid. In college dwill was a lock down defender and infact in 05 when illini was making run he shut down salim stoudmaire,Francisco garcia and rashard mccants. ALl nba players at one time. When jimmer locks someone down let me know. DEfense is played in college and in nba not till 4th quarter. So if you want to rip dwill atleast lets compare em in college where dwil lwas a lockdown defender too.
Deron? A lockdown defender? Against who? Salim Stadamire? Who does he play for?
Duron was a horrible defender most of the time. The problem is, many of you had the blinders on.
Many of you cheered at his "leadership" as he embarrassed Hayward on that fastbreak.
Praised his "leadership" when he threw AK over the bus.
Supported his throwing the legendary coach under the bus about film breakdown, practice, and finally, the Bulls game.
Many of you tore up Boozer for not putting forth effort, and ignored Deron's walking the ball up the court, going one on one, and completely ignoring the coach's play call.
How many times did we rip Memo for his defense while ignoring duron getting smoked by so many other PGs?
The truth of the matter is, for most of his time here, Duron was treated with kid gloves. There was a double standard. But when he started hinting that he'd leave, when the coach finally left, and the team still sucked, FINALLY some of you came into the light.
The point is, no one in the NBA plays defense. Especially PGs. All PGs at one point or another get torched by the others. So in reality, I can care less about a PGs "defense." That shouldn't be a real deterrent. Can the guy run the offense? Shoot? Spark the offense? IF anything, Ronnie Price has been our best PG for defense over the past 3 years. Yet, because of his terrible offense, he's continued being the 3rd stringer.
Jimmer is an NBA player NOT because of his "lockdown capability" which doesn't exist. But because of his amazing offense. He might not be a franchise PG. Maybe he'll be a hall of famer? Who knows? Could you imagine what you people would be saying about Stockton today? Too small, didn't play against a good conference, too white, a good shooter but a crappy defender, not athletic, etc.
But I think most decently objective people can see the talent Jimmer brings to the floor. For the Jazz, I see him as a 6th man. The best shooter we've had since Korver... Or hornacek.
Which, BTW, we're missing Korver a LOT more than KOC will admit.
