Its interesting. I do feel we would have won more games with Teague than Hill. Having an NBA starting quality PG for 31 more games of the season would have led to more wins. Over 49 games, I bet we win 3 more games with Hill over Teague. Over 33 games, I bet we win 6 more games with Teague instead of no Hill.

The flip side - we were a better team with Hill than I imagine with Teague. He "fits better" than I imagine Teague would have. And I also don't think we would be trying to keep Teague right now the same way we are hoping to keep Hill.

So my breakdown is this - if Hill does not stay, we made the wrong choice because we would have won more games. If he does, it was a great trade.

I just don't agree.

If we don't have Hill, Hayward is for sure gone. We NEEDED to win a playoff series.

Now Hayward might stay. That's because we did well this last year. We did well because we had Hill. And honestly, I don't think anybody predicted Hill getting the money he's going to get. DL rightfully thought we could resign him to a decent deal. Didn't work out. I'm ok with that. It was still the right move to get the better player for our team.

For the record, I'm stating that we traded an asset that another team wanted to max, for a late 1st round pick (at best). I just have a hard time calling that a good deal. It's an average deal, at best.
Judging our move based on portlands stupid financial decisions?

All his answers I've seen Lonzo give so far, usually something like two sentences, "I'm blessed" I play basketball"

Their GM is already talking about putting his jersey in the rafters, making him the face of the organization a 19 year old kid hasn't played one game. Good luck with that. I'm calling epic fail.

With Phil Jackson's departure...do we need to be concerned about DL heading to the big apple? I sure hope not.

UH...why would he leave a franchise that is to loyal for a franchise that has no loyalty?

Super-stars arent getting **** in trades this year. Holy ****.

I really hope DL has a magic rabbit he can pull of his *******.

Same, he needs to nail something big in order to convince Hayward to stay.

Where I am at in this moment is go big or go home. No half way measures.

Agree completely. I think that PG13 gets traded before free agency. It's a risk, but the upside is huge. I just hope DL and the Jazz brass agree with that position.

They don't even call him the zen master anymore. Lol. NY has this ability to take u in and then spit u out worse then when u came in. He might get a nice payday, but then he's destroyed and name tarnished.

Not really. it's not like he was a HC in NYK. He was an executive. He didnt have a name in that arena. His coaching resume can't be tarnished.

His coaching resume may not be, but his overall legacy certainly is. One of the best coaches ever. . . but simply a terrible executive. Every step he made - except drafting Porzingis - was a misstep. I think Phil is done. Now everyone will focus on Magic and the Lakers and see how he does in a similar role. Gut feeling. . . but I think Magic will be pretty good at it.

Phil never wanted the job, he just wanted the money.

Magic's role is completely different than Jackson's too. Jackson basically had complete autonomy of the Knicks because Dolan doesnt really give a **** about the Knicks or basketball.

All true. But I don't think that any of that changes the fact that it hurt Jackson's legacy. Being the head of an organization means that the buck stops with you. Phil Jackson was terrible in New York. Magic is only getting started. I'm curious to see if does any better. I think he will - eventually.

This summer is huge for DL. If Hayward leaves, he failed.

If he can keep Hayward and add a star? Wowza. GM of the universe.

I normally think your Jazz takes are terrible but I tend to agree here. If Hayward leaves and DL does not replace him with near equal value that his a big fat L on his resume.

If Hayward leaves there will be a lot of second guessing and hindsight prognostications. Should Lindsey have traded Hayward before he expired? Should he have rented GHill for one season? Should he have spent money on FAgents in 2015? Then there are the draft picks...Lyles, Burks, and Exum have all disappointments to some degree.

Personally, I like what he has done with the roster, the arena, the coaching staff, his approach to the media, his attention to detail and his leadership style. If I was his boss, I would send him back to work the day after Hayward announced his decision...no matter what Hayward decides.
