Let us ponder-if the Jazz can't retain a skinny, white, straight, republican, from a fly-over state, with a wife and kids, just who are they ever going to retain?
I've been pondering this same question for a while now. We've done pretty much every major thing right by Hayward in the last 3 seasons. We gave him a coach that puts him in a position to succeed, we gave him a team to succeed with(surrounded him with players that complement him well), we helped develop him and raise his profile to a West All-star. + the things you list... If we cannot keep him, what chance in hell do we have to keep most other stars who are still not this family focused? This is horrible for small market teams.
This is another reason I think if we cannot keep him, I think it's probably best to just tank the **** out of it. HYPER TANK. Hinkie 2.0. Try to get as many stars as possible and get them on the same timeline so you can build them up during their rookie contracts and hope they get good enough to give you 3-4 years of legit contention on their second contracts.
