Jabari Parker could be had fairly cheap

How so? Please explain that one to me.

You remember when GS gave Steph a 4/44 and everyone thought it was risky because he couldn’t stay healthy and couldn’t play defense?

A one year deal has no upside... I prefer to get him for less, but A healthy Jabari is basically exactly what we need. Young guys suck at defense... he has been coached by Jason Kidd who ran one of the dumbest defensive schemes... he can improve... he’s not Kanter.

He was benched in part because his coach is dumb and his team has to combo forwards that are better and more established. He’s got loads of potential... it’s just health imo... 15-18 I think gets it done long term... if he’s healthy is a bargain... if not any deal sucks.

Scared money don’t make none.

A year? Argh. I'd rather keep Favs.

That may end up being the decision... the other consideration is that we have space next year... if Jabari plays on a qualifying offer then he will be unrestricted next year.

I’d go after Parker.

Super small sample size, but he started to play really well the last month or so (like 6 or 8 games) putting up 19 and 8. It takes a while to come back from an ACL. Obviously his injury history is a concern, but sometimes you just gotta risk it. To get a talent like him, at ~$15, that’s worth the risk.

with out deciding on Favors yet

Rubio, Exum??, Stockton
Mitchell, Allen, Burks
Ingles, Sefelosha, O'Neale
Parker, Crowder
Gobert, Favors????, Bradley

Isn’t Exum tying up $15 million in cap space right now? So signing him for $8 would give us more cap space than we currently have?

I don’t know how this **** works. I definitely want to keep Dante. So let’s sign him so we can good idea of how much money we’re working with.

And don’t give Thabo $5 million please.

People who are afraid of Jabari because of his injury history saying Favors is a safer bet must not remember that Favors just had his first injury free year since 2013.

What are the chances that Parker goes down with a third major knee injury?

Has he seen significant diminished athletic ability yet?

Depending on the day I blow hot or cold on signing Jabari. But if signed and if he plays as he did pre injury, he could potentially be the missing piece...

I don't understand why the Jazz would rather have Favors than Parker, Parker would be such a better fit.

If you don’t know how it works... don’t try and figure it out.

We only get space by releasing all the unguaranteeds singing or waiving exums rights and waiving favs caphold... basically it ain’t happening.

Because Favors is a much better defender who likes the Jazz and has been with them for a very long time. From what I've seen from Parker, he looked horrible last year. It's not a given he'd be better than Favors. It's a risk. And one I'd rather not take unless he comes cheap.

I don't get the sense they want Jabari that badly, at least not at the cost of Favors.

This... I think they like Favs and don’t see the need for our starting 4 to be a stretch guy.

We also can wait a year.

Contracts signed this offseason could look like the 2015 contracts... I’d try to get guys on long term money if the deals are fair. 4/48 for favs will basically be an MLE deal... we can front load it and it will be a trade asset and a player who provides value.
