Jazz going after OJ Mayo

Think of OJ as Randy Foye +++, realize we don't need to save the money anyways (even up to 10 mil/yr), and this will probably not bother you. If it means Foye isn't back, I'm psyched about it.

I would rather go for Gerald Henderson than Mayo.

Mayo is garbage...just look at what Carlisle had to say about him towards the end of the year.

Gerald Henderson fits here in utah very well, ive always been met with resistance bringing this up. i much prefer Mayo

Carlisle thinks he quit on the team, he didnt say anything bad about his skills or that hes "Garbage" his beef is that he quit

What did Carlisle have to say in November when he averaged 20ppg...?

and i agree with carlisle, that he quit, but i question if thats all on Mayo, i smell ********.
obviously mayo slowed it down but is that 100% on him??

maybe Mayo didnt agree with having his Shots and Role decreased, when he carried them thru the dirk injury and scored over 20points in 11 of the first 20 games, on a new team... including a 40 point game...

perhaps he felt slighted that the mavs used him as a rental, and squeezed every minute possible out of him? (3,000 minutes)

methinks dallas was showcasing him pre-trade deadline, then when that didnt work and they realized he was going to leave, they asked him to cut his field goal attempts, and role in the offense, while still asking him to play 35minutes per...

November, 14.8 FGA's per game
December, 13.8
January, 13.1
February, 13.2
March, 10.7
April 8.7

“He wasn’t into it the first half,” Carlisle said. “We showed him some film at halftime where he was virtually just standing around defensively. We said, ‘Hey, we need you,’ tried to get him going a little bit.

“He just had a bad night; I guess I will write it off to that. But I will tell you what, if I was playing against my former team, I’d come out ready to go at them. But that’s just me.”

“I’m just disappointed for our fans,” Carlisle said. ‘I’m disappointed for my owner. I’m disappointed for our vets. Our guys put themselves out there with this whole thing with the beards. I mean, did you see Dirk last night during the game? He looked like Rip Van Winkle with that thing. Seriously, that’s putting yourself out there.”

that sounds to me, like a woman scorned

they knew Mayo was gone, so they threw him under the bus... same as the Grizz...

These fools don't want to see the facts brah.

What did Carlisle have to say in November when he averaged 20ppg...?

after the 40 point game...

Carlisle also raved about Mayo, who tied a season high with eight rebounds, and has scored more than 30 points three times this season.

"What he is showing over the first 20 games is that he has the ability to carry a team at times, and it was really impressive tonight," he said.

in this game the mavs were up by 19 with 2minutes to go in the 1st quarter

the rockets scored 42 points in the 2nd quarter, Harden scored 15 of those...

Mayo and a hobbled Chris Kaman willed the team to victory

kaman said "With guys down ... and hurting a little bit, guys came and battled tonight," Kaman said. "O.J. played an unbelievable game for us. We got stops at the end on (James) Harden when we had to."

Harden had 30 in the 1st half, and 9 in the second

Dallas used a 13-2 run to take a 102-100 lead with about 4 ½ minutes left. Carter scored five points to power the run, and Brandan Wright capped it with a dunk.

then OJ Mayo put the nail in the coffin, 10 points in the last 3 minutes to seal this game

Few shooting guards out there. Demand for Mayo is high. Good agent could get him $8-9M per

What see you, Jazzfanz?

3 years 24 mil, player option for 10 mil in 16-17, is great value for all parties involved

if im Mayos agent id want a 2 year deal with a player option in 15-16, so you can renegotiate a big contract at 27 or 28 years old

reasonable range to bring in a player like him to Utah, especially if front-loaded like:
year 1 @ 10mil
year 2 @ 9mil
year 3 @ 8mil
year 4 player option @7mil

The Mavs have a great coach and ample cap room and they don't want to touch Mayo. What does that tell everyone?

I think Dennis Lindsey has proven he knows what he is doing, and if he likes OJ Mayo, and is willing to throw the money to OJ Mayo, then I'll be damned you all are going to be living with OJ Mayo.

Deal with it.

That Dallas is looking to land a big named free agent.

Well unless they land Dwight (which they probably won't), then that makes OJ Mayo about as big name a free agent as there is out there. And they want nothing to do with him. This is after the Grizzlies unceremoniously dropped him off at the pool and never came to pick him up.

I think Minnesota will also make a strong push for him. They once drafted him after all. With AK stupidly walking away from $10m, they have the cap space now. I would rather see what Alec Burks can do with real minutes than over pay for OJ Mayo. There will be an equally good shooting guard available next summer or via trade during the season if Burks bombs.
