Ariza at 12 mil a year > Hayward at 16 mil a year
He was asking who got a bigger contract than hayward this free agent off season. On a per year basis:
James, Bosh, Kobe, Amare, Joe Johnson, Howard, Irving, Wall, Cousins, Paul, Durant, Deron, Gay, Rose, Griffin, Boozer, Randolph, M. Gasol, George, Love, Westbrook, B. Lopez, Aldridge, Lee.
His deal will start at about the same as Asik, Lin, Hibbert and E. Gordon are making this season.
And remember, salaries "leapfrog" so some players may sign deals next season which will move them ahead of Gordon. From his draft class, Wall and George were both extended for a lot more money. Cousins will make about 3 million more.
If Exum becomes starting PG, I think Exum/Hayward backcourt will be a top-5 passing duo.

Hayward probly won't live up to the contract, but there is also very little chance of it becoming an albatross.
I don't think it's necessarily fair to say that Favors' agent was "wrong". Maybe Favors really likes living in Utah and he didn't mind taking less money to get a deal done right away. I know it's extremely rare nowadays, but not everyone is all about money.Granted, the fanbase and media would have gone nuts had the Jazz signed Gordo to an extension at $14mm per year, but that alone isn't a good reason not to offer it. In the end, Gordo's agent was right, DL and Favors' agent were wrong.

Forgive my ignorance, but what team do you actually like, or are you just Little Miss Sunshine wherever you go?LMAO. Enjoy years of lottery picks and being maybe barely good enough to sneak into the playoffs on some years to only get smashed out in the first round...lol,, Way overpaid for him and Bobcats knew you would match. Someties you got to call the bluff.
You really showed in this statement that you are not from the States
I'd appreciate it if you refrain from responding to my posts and instead neg me with your 0 rep power. Thanks! You really showed in this statement that you are not from the States
Career Stats:Ariza was better for 1 year! Haywards career stats are better than Ariza's. Heck, Haywards Career stats are probably close to as good as the 4 best years Ariza has had. Hayward is 23. When Ariza was 23, he averaged probably around 6 points a game and shot less than 30 percent from 3's. Ariza played well last year, but the 2 years before that, he was outplayed. He also had John Wall taking attention away from him and was able to be a complimentary player. Hayward had defenses focused on him and struggled a bit (as Ariza would too) but was still able to score almost 17 ppg. Hayward is a better player. And Ariza wasn't coming to Utah anyway. He was likely looking for a good deal with a contender first, then a great deal with a non contender. He got a good deal with Houston and will probably do pretty well, because teams will be focusing on Harden and Howard.
Compared to the Chandler Parsons contract Hayward is a bargain
Career Stats:
Trevor Ariza
Min 26.9 FGA 8.2 FG% 43.4 3pt% 34.7 FT 69.6 Reb 4.6 Ast 2.0 Blk 1.4 Stl 1.4 TO 1.4 Pts 9.7
Gordon Hayward

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Biggest Advantages:
Hayward has advantage over Ariza on 3pt% 36.5 vs 34.7
Hayward has advantage over Ariza on FT% 81.3 vs 69.6
Ariza has advantage over Hayward on Reb 4.6 vs 3.4
Hayward has advantage over Ariza on Ast 3.1 vs 2.0
Ariza has advantage over Hayward on Blk 1.4 vs 0.5
Ariza has advantage over Hayward on Stl 1.4 vs 0.9
Ariza has a contract advantage over Hayward 8m vs 15.75m
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
Ariza played 1.4 mpg less than Hayward
Didn't list PTS or FGA because that could actually be a disadvantage when you shoot low percentage, would rather someone with a higher percentage take those shots.
Ariza just missed out on the all-defense team last year and considered one of the better wing defenders in the league.
Ariza started out slow first 3 season and has improved since then with last year one of his best years
Hayward Started out strong on first season and has declined 3 consecutive years with last year being his worst of his career
Hayward has an advantage on age 24 vs 29
Hayward has advantage on tangables on offense while Ariza has advantage on tangables on defense
Team can get rid of Ariza after 3 yrs, Hayward after 4 yrs
---------------------------------------------------------
Based on this I would say Ariza was the better deal! Hayward has gotten worse each season with more usage time, where Ariza has gotten better since his first three years in the league. And if you go by what have you done for me lately its not even close, Ariza blew him away on offense and defense last season
