I'm not worried, we are a good team, that's easy to see. But the trend of bad bounces, unlucky breaks, and close game losses is a bit annoying so far, hopefully that evens out throughout the year (but sometimes it doesn't)
I do wish we would see a bit more "Practice what you preach" with the team though. All you hear is "Everyone just wants to win", "Guys are happy when other guys succeed." "Team first, no matter what" but it doesn't really seem like it. I get it, being too reactionary can be bad too. But at what point is it just the proper reaction?
The starting lineup looked terrible in the preseason and in every game so far this season. Every. Single. Time. We start the game rough, and then sub in a real stretch 4 for Favors and go on a run. How much more evidence do we need? Favors is a back up center, plain and simple. Mitchell and Gobert are so easily our best players, and Favors just kills the spacing completely. And don't tell me he is some game changer on D. KAT went off every time Gobert went out of the game yesterday.
And what more does Niang have to do to get more minutes? He's done everything right so far. Crowder has been great, so I have no problem with him playing, but Niang is SOOOOOOO much better at the 4 than Favors, he should be getting those minutes.
Sure, I don't trust Exum's shot, but jesus, I REALLY don't trust Rubio's right now. Like, why not just play your players who are playing well and see what happens? If chemistry is what this team is all about then why are we so concerned that suddenly everything would be chaos if we changed it up a bit? Maybe Rubio would find his groove again leading the second unit. When Mitchell runs the offense it can look really good, Exum gives us a spark that no one else does.
I'll just keep yelling all of this into the wind. The stats say my eyes aren't lying to me, so idk what can change my mind.
