Jimmy Butler's Day off - Jazz @ Timberbulls 10/31/2018 6 pm MST

Exum has the ultimate tool to beat half court defenses, his ability to get past his man. When he beats his man he collapses the defense then its an easy kick out. Sure he has a lot to improve, mainly finishing and PnR play but he wont develop those skills without minutes.

He needs to start playing with Rudy, DM, Niang etc not ****ing Ekpe Udoh.
He barely plays with Udoh....

Lmfao Derrick Rose drops 50 on Rubio and some people still have the audacity to say "Rubio is a better player." I know some of you are biased and all, but holy ****.

We can sugar coat all we want, but we might not beat Houston if Harden doesn't go out. We struggled to beat Sacramento. We beat NOLA because AD was out. Dallas is not a good team.

We are out of rhythm. We are trying to play 10-11 guys because our options at PG and PF are playing like crap. We can't be loyal to a fault. Either Rubio or Favors figure it out or we play others.

Our PF's are playing very well....

We play 3 of them. All 3 are above average PER. All 3 offer something different based on matchups.

Rubio is better. Rose is awful. He had a good game. It happens. Terrence Ross once scored 51 points.

Maybe last season. Look at the stats this year and tell me where Rubio trumps Rose at? Not gonna argue with your biased opinions playa. We all know its tradition to overrate our players.

It's basically impossible to play Niang more if Crowder is playing well unless Quin decides to play them togther. Crowder also offers a hustle/rebounding/toughness presence that is really important. Niang isnt a guy who comes up with 50/50 balls and Crowder is.

The entire team looked like they had been on the road for 9 days, cuz that's what had happened.

In general Niang needs to play more... maybe not last night. Crowder can play some at the three... I don’t see them as guys that can’t play together.

Crowder is streaky... Niang is shooting over 50% from three and is a better passer. I think crowder and Niang should get all the PF minutes when we aren’t playing teams like Minny.

Like I said, we can work out of this. However, we have to win these games if we want to be considered contenders. Two of their top 5 were out. They are a mess. We can't give a troubled rival hope like that.

My issue with PF is finding the right balance. Everybody knows Crowder should start but we start Favors for some kind of lifetime achievement recognition. Niang is emerging but will we play him consistently enough? Hell, Ingles should play PF some in games like last night.

The problem is that Exum isnt good enough in half-court situations and the high outcome possibility of Rubio is better than that of Exum. Exum getting his game tying shot blocked from a mile away when I think any other perimeter player on our team could have gotten the shot off was a bit of an example.

A high outcome possibility is only important if it has a decent probability and if the floor outcome isn’t just awful. Ricky has this far not shown enough consistency in hitting that high outcome possibility and when he doesn’t he has been murdering the offense. He plays good defense and comes up with loose balls but even on defense there are some guys that give him trouble.

Exum is better in the halfcourt than you are giving him. Can take the dribble handoff turn the corner and make stuff happen... is breaking the paint and finishing better than Rubio... has shown that he can throw a good lob pass. He can also get his spot up shot off because guys can’t close hard on him or he can blow by them on a straight line drive.

I’m not sure Exum the answer but it’s looking more like Rubio may not be.... I just don’t know if we are good enough offensively to cover for him when he isn’t shooting straight.

Every minute Udoh has played this year Exum has been on the court.

2, 14, 5, 5 have been Udohs minutes the last 4 games. When Exum only gets 12-18 mins a night thats a lot! He throws everything out of sync.
He's played 25 minutes of his total 132 minutes this season with Udoh.

Exum has gotten 57 minutes with Gobert. He's gotten 55 minutes with Favors. 50 minutes with Mitchell. 80 minutes with Ingles. 38 minutes with Niang. 88 minutes with Crowder.

He's playing with talent. Stop with that Udoh scapegoating.

Playing with Favs and Royce is no better. He needs shooters or 2015 Fav. If Fav could still pick n pop Exum would feed him all night.

We know it's coming with Rubio, so it's worth enduring some struggle. Rubio showed what's he can do in New Orleans.

The exact same **** happened last year, and I defended Rubio and it paid off. I don't think Rubio will take as long this year to get into his groove.

Again, Rubio is the guy who put up a triple double in the playoffs. He's worth having some faith and patience in.

And last night, Exum is the one who got cooked by Rose to a higher degree. https://stats.nba.com/game/0021800107/matchups/?sort=POSS&dir=1&OFF_PLAYER_ID=201565&DEF_PLAYER_ID=

lmao. His top two minutes partners are two of the Jazz's top shooters. You arent speaking logically. Favors is also an excellent pick n roll player.

A starting lineup of Favors and Rubio just doesn't work because both are offensive liabilities while neither are great defenders. It is becoming way too easy for opponents to lock down Ingles and sag off Favors and Rubio.

I would start Crowder which pretty much means Udoh is cycled out of the rotation because Favors becomes the bench C and Niang the bench PF.

It worked last year and it won us a playoff series. The reason we struggled against Houston defensively with Paul was because of Rubio's injury. Try again.

I'm not worried, we are a good team, that's easy to see. But the trend of bad bounces, unlucky breaks, and close game losses is a bit annoying so far, hopefully that evens out throughout the year (but sometimes it doesn't)

I do wish we would see a bit more "Practice what you preach" with the team though. All you hear is "Everyone just wants to win", "Guys are happy when other guys succeed." "Team first, no matter what" but it doesn't really seem like it. I get it, being too reactionary can be bad too. But at what point is it just the proper reaction?

The starting lineup looked terrible in the preseason and in every game so far this season. Every. Single. Time. We start the game rough, and then sub in a real stretch 4 for Favors and go on a run. How much more evidence do we need? Favors is a back up center, plain and simple. Mitchell and Gobert are so easily our best players, and Favors just kills the spacing completely. And don't tell me he is some game changer on D. KAT went off every time Gobert went out of the game yesterday.

And what more does Niang have to do to get more minutes? He's done everything right so far. Crowder has been great, so I have no problem with him playing, but Niang is SOOOOOOO much better at the 4 than Favors, he should be getting those minutes.

Sure, I don't trust Exum's shot, but jesus, I REALLY don't trust Rubio's right now. Like, why not just play your players who are playing well and see what happens? If chemistry is what this team is all about then why are we so concerned that suddenly everything would be chaos if we changed it up a bit? Maybe Rubio would find his groove again leading the second unit. When Mitchell runs the offense it can look really good, Exum gives us a spark that no one else does.

I'll just keep yelling all of this into the wind. The stats say my eyes aren't lying to me, so idk what can change my mind.
