Nash has interest in Utah?

Harden is no doubt the guy we would have to get if we want to fast track our contender status. Otherwise our hopes are pinned on the 4orce or whatever you call it. We have to hope that Burks turns into one of the games top closer. Because otherwise we wont go far, we will have to go through the Durants, Hardens, Wades, and Lebrons if we want a title. Harden is one bad mother effer. He is as talented and smart as anybody in the league. Maybe smarter. I hope this is what KOC is thinking. But I also think OKC will match anything and keep him. And then at the very least trade him for a lot shortly later. Like what we got for Dwill.

Oh wait. Is this a Nash thread...

Couldn't we sign him to a 10 a year deal and still offer two max deals next summer?
If the Jazz stay on the course that they're on, yes.

Signing Nash only helps you sign other guys. In a dream scenario, you could get Harden, Dwight, and Nash in the next two offseasons.

What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic statements I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to something that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for reading your post. I award you no rep points and may god have mercy on your soul. Harden>Nash all day.

As much as I like Harden, it isn't clear he is on those player's levels.

A simple "wrong" would've done just fine...

We need a CBA expert to answer this question. Is there a chance that the Jazz could front load something to Nash for three years that looks something like this: (going off the 10 mil/yr for 3 years that has been thrown out around here) 13 then 9 then 8? We would need to amnesty or trade away for cap space to make it work but it would allow for Nash to get the most money up front and it would give us a little wiggle room for the next two seasons afterwards when the FA market and our guys new contracts come up.

Thoughts?

How is it not clear?

Thats just something we will have to disagree on. He may not be Lebron or Durant in terms of athletic dominance, but he is more crafty in my opinion. He reminds me of Ginobli a lot. I have a lot of respect for Ginoblis game.

I think in the end, smart ultimately is the most valuable asset a player can have. You can see how smart Harden is when he plays. Not to mention this guy has unreal handles. He would be so perfect for this team. OKC might not notice he's even gone, but he would elevate this team to new heights

Who I think are the best players in the NBA

Lebron
Durant
Howard
Wade
Kobe
Rose
Harden
Dwill
Chris Paul
Westbrook

You can argue Chris is better than Deron. I have always said Dwill is better so I am not going to be flip flopping now
You could even argue Harden maybe a couple slots lower but, he is definitely in the top ten.

Name somebody better besides who I listed already.

If you cant, then how can you say he is not on the highest level

Just because he may not be able to name a player better than Harden does not automatically mean that Harden belongs in the superstar category.

not a CBA expert; but I know they can't amnesty him. You had to have been under contract as of a certain date that has long since past.

I wasn't talking about amnestying Nash, I was thinking of someone on the current Jazz roster. ie Jefferson, Bell, Watson, etc to make room for a front loaded contract. I was just talking about clearing away cap space to front load something for Nash.

Sorry for the confusion.

No it doesnt mean he is as good as Lebron and Durant, but he is the next best thing. My point was that if we want to compete with those guys we are going to need a top player

Also I forgot Dirk. But I still would put him on the end of that list.

I agree with blues. It seems that Jazz fans have a more defeatist's attitude when it comes to getting top players/coaches, etc. Yes, I know all the reasons, I just want to expect more, find a way .. if it's hard do it hard, but not just lie down and accept our pre-destined(?) mediocrity.

Holy ****!

That is the smartest thing you have ever said.

I think that has been the theme here. I feel like I am always arguing with people who are ok with just being playoff makers. I say **** that ****. Go for broke. Go big or go home

I have been saying go after Harden for days. So I agree with you

Can Harden be the best player on a contending team night in and night out though? Right now he is the 3rd best player, so he really doesn't have that much pressure to perform every night. Would that change if he was The Man? Or would he be just as good?

That's a fair question. No doubt he'd be our best player .. so, again, fair question.

Use Bell, Harris, Watson and Big Al for trade bait. Along with whatever else it takes (our 2nd rounder, TPE, money...)

Resign Carroll and Evans and pick up the option on Tinsley. Let Howard and Miles try their luck elsewhere.

Sign Steve Nash and land Harden and Brandon Rush. With the trades we have made get a PG in the draft.

Nash/drafted PG/Tinsley
Hayward/Burks
Harden/Rush/Carrol
Millsap/Kanter/Evans
Favors/Kanter

Sign a 3rd string C. That gives us 13 guys. I'd love that damn team.

Sadly in the NBA everyone can offer the same thing. It's not like in College where we can offer money, girls, cars, etc. under the table like UK.

Harden might be a top 20 player now (and probably is a top 20 future), but can he ever be a top 10 player?
