Official Locker Room Cleanout Thread

It's going to definatly be a interesting ofseason .. Jazz really need to resighn DMC and give alot more playing time to Burks ... if your going to draft a lotery player ... you'd think you'd play him!!! it really makes no sence to play guys like Tinsely and Foye when he's Ice cold 0 Defence and very little offence .. Burks is proven he can drive to the hole and make things happen and is a alright point gaurd ... It will be interesting to see if they bring Mo back ... you figure Marvin is going to opt back in he isnt stupid like Odin Poly ..I'd play him if starters and rookies don't get it done ..bench warmer .. trade bait

Millsap makes me sad. With favors and Kanter starting he would be an absolute stud coming in off the bench. Plus, if any injuries or anything else happened he could slide right into the starting line-up without missing a beat. But, alas, he wants more. He's worked hard so I can't say he doesn't deserve it, I just wanted him to be a Jazz man for life.

:(

I think he wants to get paid like a starter and get respected like a starter, so he has to be a starter. He can see how much money other guys in the league have been making, and he wants a deal like that.

great stuff from Lindsey. (If you can make it through his Texan & evangelical need to use idioms, metaphors, and hyperbole. )

Lindsey says a rebuild takes 8 years, but KOC made it shorter with Boozer/Williams.

Ty will get some good grades and some need improvements.

KOC and DL don't agree on everything.

Wouldn't do a trade at deadline knowing what he knows now? --NO.

Locke: Did you tell Ty what players to play?

DL: Yea, we run the numbers on 5 man rotations, on what works and what isn't. But we don't go run down at half time to tell him to play.

Ty will ask us for our opinion, and he is very poised.

Locke: Zach Lowe wrote a piece about Jazz using 5 man lineups that didn't work.

DL: It will be brought up when Ty, KOC & DL meet next week. There is more to coaching than just numbers the personalities and locker room and we will discuss why certain lineups were used. Zach has written some things that were accurate, and we need to talk about it. I believe in the numbers, in the analytics, but I don't believe in painting by numbers.

DL: Al has improved in the last two years, he is a Dirk Nowitzki type player. We talked about things for him to get better for next season whether that is here or somewhere else. Al is a good man and we want him to be successful.

Locke: Jazz have this system that everyone is used to, will it change.

DL: The league is going to empty post and high pick and roll, but offense is dictated by your players and we have alot of good low post players.

Locke: Are Favors and Hayward ready to put a stamp on this team.

DL: Yea, maybe. Ty challenged Favors to step up defense. He made strides but needs to do more so he can be our Tyson Chandler, our Kevin Garnett, or Tim Duncan actually quarterbacking the defense.

We want Gordon Hayward to set the standards for this team on how we travel, how we talk with the media, how we practice, how we play. Gordon is good kid, he is respectful so he defers to the veterans, but he is under contract and we had some big requests for him for this off-season for setting standards and building a culture.

Locke: Do you have to clear the deck to make the way for F & H to lead?

DL: I can't tell you today, we might have them team up with veterans or they could lead a team of young guys.

Lindsey was really good in that interview. He acknowledges fan concerns, avoids cliches, and still doesn't tip his hand.

I don't completely agree with the details, but I completely agree with the overall sentiment.

Coach Corbin says Hayward, Favors, Burks, & Kanter be would be ready to start next season if that is needed from them. #JazzNation

It's only needed if the Jazz don't sign some over the hill vets with 1 year contracts next year.

Al Jefferson: "I think I have shown that I'm not just the black hole that I've had the reputation of being in past years."

I'll defend Al and say that his passing improved immensely over the years he was here. It's not great but it was a lot better.

My bigger problem is just how much slower the offense is run when he's out there.

We have all remarked about how Ty is learning, even if it is slowly. Since we all know he will be back next year how will you judge him if:

1) He coaches a C4 centered team to the lottery?

2) He coaches a C4 centered team to the playoffs?

3) He coaches a vet/C4 team to the lottery?

4) He coaches a vet/C4 team to the playoffs?

That is a great question. Very mature to recognize that Ty is going to be here despite what a few fans are clamoring about and move onto expectations.

Lindsey either doesn't know or wouldn't tip his hand about what the team will look like next year. I hope it is young guys with a few veterans. IF so Ty ought to be judged on improvement of the C4 through the season.

I want Ty gone but I don't believe that he will be gone. I just want to see that Ty's blanket (the vets) are taken away so that his hand is forced. Hayward, Favors and Kanter are ready to start for the Jazz next year. No need to sign someone that Ty might try to play over them.

Forcing his hand when it comes to rosters won't change his disability to manage tight endgame situations, offensive and defensive variety.
