Official Player Workouts for the Utah Jazz

Yes, I've never understood why they don't. Tradition perhaps?

Let's put it like this: The NBA generates a ****ton of cash that they don't distribute to the owners. I don't think it would be impossible to interview the GMs and based on their evaluation pack a measurement set, take a plane and visit various cities to measure top prospects that applied for the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised either-- but of course, we're dealing with ceilings here as well.

I doubt he's as good as those guys or better. With all the scouting that has been done I would think he would be a top 3 prospect if he was. Doesn't mean he isn't since anything is possible but I doubt it. Also he's not playing in Spain or one of the other top leagues, the talent level in his League is below the NCAA top conferences

As far as measurements, these guys have been measured in the past year when they played in the u19 tournaments. Saric was measured as 6'10 but with the same wingspan as his height

Exum was 6'6 with a 6'9.25 wingspan

Hmmmm...i always heard the Adriatic league was one of the best. I wonder how one really finds this stuff out.

Well there is the Adidas Eurocamp where a lot of the Euro and other international guys attend. It is June 7-9. Still dont know if Saric would attend though.

Certainly a strong league. Comprises teams from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, etc. Some teams are certainly underfunded, but a lot of strong young players.

Also, in regard to the scouting - Nba people have missed so often on Euros, both overrating and underrating them - that I put almost zero stock in that.

Any of those players better than Exum?

JK...looks like Jazz are dredging the bottom looking for talent among players not likely to be drafted.

They did the same thing last year. Lindsey used the pre-combine workout to teach and train his staff on how to conduct a work out and what to look for.

I also think there is some other motives to bringing n so many guys and the extra coaches (remember last year one of the Kentucky assistants was hired by the Jazz to conduct a couple of summer workouts). I have speculated that it is to try to build good will with the agents, to build relationships with Euroleague scouts by sharing intel with them, or to try to improve the image of SLC with the players in hopes that the jazz will somehow make it out of the nba basement of most desirable team to play for.

The jazz have drafted a good amount of guys they have had come in for recombine workouts. For some reason people think of you don't go to the combine you don't get drafted. There are plenty of guys who get combine invites every year that end up not getting drafted. The most important thing is team workouts not the Chicago combine

Excellent points. Maybe you want Players X, Y and Z as possible FA's down the road, so you bring in rookies that are represented by those agents and give them exposure. Also a good point regarding college coaches and scouts. You never know when those connections will pay dividends. And as more of these guys have a good experience in the state of Salt Lake, you would hope the good will travels back with them.

Jazz workout participants are wearing jerseys numbered from 51-84. Jazz PR didn't find it funny when I asked if that's their player ratings.

I like Jody, I think I could hang out with him on one of my snarky days.

Great sense of humor by Jody!
Jazz PR staff should lighten up. Maybe even retort that one of them could be the next Paul Millsap or Wesley Matthews. Or really start something by saying that they've heard rumors one or more of these players are being considered with the lottery pick.

"@DJJazzyJody: Jazz will have another workout tomorrow. Players TBA."
