What's new

Oui Oui Gobert!

Everyone keep your feet on the ground. If Gobert is Larry Sanders, we should be throwing a party. Hell, I'm not sure Derrick Favors is as good as Larry Sanders.

Gobert has been compared to javale mcgee and Larry sanders in this thread, two freak of nature athletes.

People is crazy.

But Larry SAnders does not have a 9'7" reach. Gobert can be an elite defender...if he can add some weight.
Larry Sanders is arguably the best big man defender in the NBA. Gobert doesn't have the strength to hold his own on the block right now.

LOL.

Favors couldn't hold his own on the block last season, so Gobert will be a rag doll for a while.

The kid is big, but needs to put on plenty of weight.

Rudy Gobert jumped through all of the official hoops — buyout with French team, FIBA clearance — and officially signed with the Utah Jazz.

Now he can play in the summer league.

Good. I'd rather have him developed here right away instead of waiting a few years. Neto is a different story. He can stay in Europe for a few. Too bad they haven't gotten Tomic to come over yet, I'd like to see what he and Gobert would look like as a tag-team. One 7+ for offense, and one for defense.

Except they can't just tag out at half court.

Didn't see the game, but it sounds like Rudy was one of the positives from the game. Can't wait for him to spend some time working with Malone, Favors and Kanter. He looks like he might have a bright future ahead if he's able to put on some weight and some offensive go to moves. Glad they bought the pick and snagged him like they did. Excited to see him develop. Core 6?

Evans has improved. Don't be silly. He's just an elite track star, not an elite bball player. He needs a knock-down ten-footer and he can stay on the floor. He probably has this, but needs some reps. We will see what he has by the end of this year.

Gobert is gonna be awesome.

Evans has been here for three years sure, but he has still barely been on the court. the fact that we still even think about him is shocking considering how little he has played. he played more in his first year than he has in the last two combined lol.

Sidenote: Jeremy leads the franchise in true shooting percentage according to basketball-reference.com #number40hangingintherafters

I think Biedrins might be a good comp.

Mellow came up with the perfect nickname for this dude:

Eiffel Tower!!

He [locke]actually was explaining on the radio that the Jazz were really high on both Zeller and Olynyk, as they viewed them both as potentially the perfect 3rd big compliment to Favors and Kanter, and a potential key compliment to one of them if one of Favors and Kanter had to be moved because they didn't mesh (he said there was some concerns of this nature this currently in the organization). He also said he was halfway through a Wolters highlight / analysis video because he was convinced we would end up with him. But then Burke just kind of happened.

Looks like he's got a little nasty in him, which is great. The double blocks are always a sign of pride in defending the paint, and he seemed to catch and throw it down with authority. Granted, he'll be playing against bigger, tougher bangers, but he doesn't look soft at all...

a lineup of him and Favors could be a damn good defensive team. A nice change from Al and Millsap.

damn he could probably get a block a game, with out jumping.

Isiah Thomas had Gobert going number 7. Lol

A bump from memory lane.

Bawse...what's the point? Anyone that has the balls to make predictions will ultimately get some wrong. Even Nostradamus wasn't right on all of his predictions.

I was impressed with Isaiah Thomas suggesting Rudy should be drafted 7th. Nobody had him going that high.

At some point Rudy was as high as No.5 in the mockdrafts of the bigger sites as far as I remember.
